I just ordered these to replace my factory 2020 pirelli rft 21" staggered. $1331 out the door from discount tire for all 4. After trying to get a used set for 1/4 the price and not being able to find a tire shop to install them as it was patched, I tapped out and just went to discount tire.

I'm definitely planning to go this route once the stock Continental RFT's wear out.

Which, at the current rate, will be well before I hit 20k miles.

It will be nice to get all seasons and not worry about driving in cold temps. And they will hopefully last longer.

Edit: is there a way to adjust the Speedometer for the larger tires? It's not a huge difference, so probably leaving it alone is ok too.

I'm not surprised to hear places don't want to mount these. The H speed rating would probably be the biggest issue, especially when stock tires are Y rated. I've never tested it but it would be interesting if switching tire profiles in iDrive actually lowers the speed limiter to match the tires rated speed.

I doubt iDrive is that smart lol.

But it's a moot point for me at least, I don't get close to triple digits in the speedometer.

I wouldn't put it past BMW to program that in. Whenever I rented a car with winter tires on it, Sixt would have a sticker by the gauges telling you not to go over 210 km/h. Probably be easier to have it all happen automatically.

Sorry for hijacking the post. I'm trying to get rid of run flat tires for my x5.

use the calculator for tires and found few options for go flat all season. Tire size is 295/40/21 or 295/35/21 for all 4, available tires are Michelin pilot sport 4 and continental extremecontact dws06 plus and they are Y speed rating. I'm planning to go for this route.

Any input would be much appreciated.

I'm on the fence of getting the 21" rims vs getting the 20". I love the look of the 21"'s but hate blowing cash on tires especially if there are only a couple of options so I guess the 20"ers wouldn't be the end of the world.

This looks promising but does anyone know if putting these larger tires would be an option for a 2022 45e, I'm hearing that maybe there's not enough room w/ the air suspension.

Yes, I too am curious if anyone with a 45e has moved up in sidewall sizing like the OP; to a 40 and 45 sidewall on the 21" wheel; 275/40/21 and 315/45/21 vs the OEM 35/40?

I guess any G05 model with Air Suspension and this set-up should be able to provide insights if they have moved sizing like the OP.

I ordered a set and I'm on air and lowering links although I am weary it may rub but we will see. But in earlier post someone did say the air suspension is more tolerable to sizes because it has the ability to go lower or higher

I'm just going to stick with the 20" rims. I talked with discount tire, they seemed a bit hesitant on putting the 275/45' and 315/40 's on the 21" rims.

My wife likes the 21"'s better but doesn't dislike the 20's. Her driving style is much less aggressive than me and will be the primary driver of this. Keeping it squared is also a bit of a plus in my eyes.

Any update on your order for sizing up on the 21" tires to 40/45 vs OEM 35/40?

They rub when I'm on sport mode on my lowering links and spacers. Work fine in comfort mode no rubbing

chicken1 Thanks for the info. The G05 x45e air suspension will automatically lower by 1/2 level once the speed reaches 86mph even if you are not in the sport mode. Will this cause rubbing the tires at 86mph and above in the comfort mode?

At stand still, if I lower the air suspension to the lowest level, will the tires hit anything?

Thank you @chicken1

I had Discount Tire put Michelin all season 275/45 on the front and 315/40 on the rear, on the 740m rims. On my 45e, the ride and tire noise are both noticeably improved.

I can confirm with the stock air suspension, there is no rubbing even at the lowest height for loading.

Needless to say, I bought a tire repair kit and a mobile inflator for emergencies

Can you please post pics of these on your 45e?
Still no issues with 275/45/21; 315/40/21 with the adjustable air suspension on 45e?

I see you went up on the overall diameter. Did inputting the tires into Idrive corrected the speedometer or is yours off?

The speedometer in the X5 we own is pretty spot on. I would not want to mess that up.
