Arrow Question regarding cabin air filter replacement.

I have a 2022 BMW X5 40i. My cabin air filters were clogged up from the Canadian fire smoke and I removed them to restore normal airflow.

Now I purchased two Hengst cabin air filters from ECS.

My question is regarding the arrows on the filter. I checked YouTube and I’m getting mixed feedback. One video says to point the direction on one of the filters towards the engine and the other filter has to be pointed towards the passenger. Another video says yo point both filters towards the engine.

I’m lost here. Which ways should the arrows face?

Thanks in advance.

I’ll be changing mine soon and will take note of the arrow directions as I remove the old filters

Aren’t they covered under maintenance for 3 years?

They are. The dealership said I wasn’t due for one until June 2024. I didn’t want to make a stink over a $25 air filter so I let it go.

I change my own cabin filters every year myself. Just did mine again today. I was also confused with all the YT videos because some installed the filters with the arrows pointing away from each other. I determined they are wrong and both arrows need to be pointing towards the engine. Its not hard, but its just not a very comfortable, convenient location to change filters.

I like to enjoy a nice cigar in my X5 which is my guilty pleasure. So I replace my filters more often. FCP lifetime replacement for the win.
