Auto Climate for Passenger Seat in US

I have coded for all seats to turn on automatically at certain temperatures. Despite having the option in idrive, I cannot get the ventilation to turn on automatically for the passenger seat.

Has anyone in the US gotten this to work even after the 7/2020 software update? I know the 3/2020 update added auto settings for the driver seat and steering wheel in the US. I am wondering whether those settings trump the settings for all seats. I believe the HVAC 2TIR settings relate to those in HU_MGU.

Any help or thoughts are appreciated.

Seems like if you can code it, it would be easy enough for BMW to add in future updates. Not like it impacts safety in any way, although we are talking about BMW and software here....

This is called "Climate Control Rules". Unfortunately BMW has decided that these setting parameters are reserved for the Driver only. I voiced my opinions with my dealer about this and although they agreed that it should be available for at least the two front passengers there is no such option through BMW.

Just another example of simple to implement options that are available via the hardware/software that BMW has decided not to enable. Probably because they are reserving these options for future revenue streams through paid services.

Update - it is working. It requires someone in the seat before it will turn on. Coding still works.

These codes haven't been mentioned for months, then twice in one day!

I should work on commission

So, these "Passenger Climate Control Rules" must be coded in order to work? Also, is this option available to code via BimmerCode?

Yes, you'll need to code it for Passenger and Rear Seats. You can use the Bimmercode App in Expert Mode as Trojanlaw provided in the previous post.

Be advised that after coding the APP "climate rules" still only displays driver only. All settings can be done by pressing "Menu" on the climate control panel.

Hello guys,
LexxM3

I believe @[ifr] is the code owner. I'm on 03-2021.36 and trying to use Android bimmercode for these but cant find 7083 and 3E52 sections. Instead I found them in different locations. Should I proceed as bellow? Are my finding same?

BDC 3142 PFLinRE LHZ_CCM_IKF : aktiv
BDC 3450 Others_1 IKF_ENABLE: ikf_alle_sitze

Yeah, I think that's pretty cool that it doesn't automatically do stuff to the passenger seat, like turn on the heat, unless there's someone there.

Does the same thing happen with the rear passengers too? I was concerned about overusing the rear seat heaters, but if they don't turn on unless there's someone in the rear seats as well, I'll add that the next time I code the car.

It is a shame. Just traded my x3 for x5 … x3 allows for dual comfort rules without coding. Not sure why x5 would not have it standard. There are some other things that x5 seems to behind the times of X3. Anyone know why?

Things can and do change with software update versions...hard to say what is or will eventually happen.

Trojanlaw ,

Finally, got around to code this with Bimmercode-- probably, thanks to this latest cold snap.

I now have an additional climate rule front passenger (I take that's all passengers).

Thanks!

For BimmerCode, I seemingly need to have a different OBD adapter as I can't code BDC with the current one.

Think I'll skip it

Hi, can you confirm that this works on the G01 2022 X3 too? Unlike the pre LCI G01 X3, the LCI X3 also does not have dual climate rules which is a shame. But I have to code. After running these codes then I can set climate rules for the passenger seat as well?
