VTENGR is correct. The Comfort Access settings are under Doors/Access.

Thanks, but what I was looking for was to disable the steering wheel retract/extend when locking and unlocking. Sorry, I should have been more specific.
My steering wheel/column periodically groans and vibrates when retracting and/or extending and I really don’t feel like getting a new steering column and sans car for three plus weeks while waiting for the part. I would rather just turn it off and I don’t care if it breaks later as I’m leasing. I just don’t want it to break while I own it. Is there a way to disable that? Thanks. |

I have read that it is not possible to disable that but perhaps it can be and someone will chime in.

1. The order the part and you drive your car until it comes in. 2. If you don't want to drive your car while the part is shipped, you get a loaner...usually x5. |

I just don’t feel like dealing with it.
If they diagnose the steering column, they typically will not allow me to drive my vehicle while the part is on order as it is a safety-related item. I don’t want wait a month for the part and I hate loaners unless it’s an upgrade. So, I would rather just turn the feature off. Any ideas if this is possible? |

A steering column stuck in the wrong position is a major inconvenience to him. One stuck in the right position is not an issue, as its not his problem and he can happily keep using the car. |

In any case, I don’t get the OP’s logic, but I am not in a scenario where something worse may fail in the component, with a wider impact/consequence. |

Its a common fault with BMW steering columns - the motor which moves it up/down or in/out fails, and the only symptom is inability to move the wheel.
It doesn't impact any other part of the car, but having the wheel stuck in the 'folded away' position until parts can be obtained and the car repaired can (and has in the past) caused major inconvenience for people. |

My steering column functions perfectly but I want to turn off the auto-retract because it serves no purpose for me and I don't like the wear and tear on the components. I own my vehicle outright and plan to keep it for many years.

There is still no way to stop it as far as I know.
