Can't get into diagnostic mode

Hi all - I am trying to help a friend code his 2 series (F22) with Bimmercode. I have done my G05 many times, so I am familiar with the process, but when I push the start button 3 times in his car, the vehicle does not show any indication that it is going into diagnostic mode. Any ideas?

Thanks!

I don't believe there is a diagnostic mode in the F series cars. My F30 and F15 didn't have one.

My understanding is that it was added in the G series as BMW introduced a power (fuel) saving feature that turns off modules when they aren't needed. Diagnostic mode makes sure they are all turned on.

Thanks Gerry - that is what my further research has confirmed.
