Just Joined The X5 G05 Club from the M4 Club! Story and Photos
I am writing this post with mixed emotions. After 1 year and 25K miles driving a 2015 M4 6MT, the pain and cost of repairs finally did me in. To be exact, $6,000 in out of warranty repairs and another $4k I chose not to do and trade instead. (Final straw was the $2,000 battery replacement! You read that correctly. Look it up.) Never buy a used M car, but I loved it anyway.
I love Bimmers and wasn't sure what I would get. Did not have much time to decide. But once I saw the all new X5 G05, I was impressed. The luxury is on another level. Needless to say, I am ecstatic with my decision to buy a new one. |

Congratulations. Seems like an odd transition though - sports coupe to full sized SUV.
Yes, you will certainly feel like you're in an armchair compared to the M4. How long will it take for you to miss the driver involvement? Might have to get yourself a manual M2 as well.

I second the get a slightly used M2 advice. They are a fantastic bargain right now due to the new Competition model.
Would you mind detailing what repairs cost 6k? I hope the X5 isnt that much of a money pit when it gets older but I wouldn't wager on it. Good color choice on the X5. You may want to plastidip the rear diffuser in matte black. I think it looks a lot better that way. |

I always had an extended warranty on my M3's for that reason. Potential crazy expensive repairs. I'll get an extended warranty with this car too if I keep it long enough. Congrats on the X5!

2 times in for misfires. Plugs and coils. $3,000 Finally figured out it was a bad front crank seal. Prior owner had messed with the wiring with some kind of mod attempt which took forever to diagnose. $3,000. Final repairs I did not do was $1,600 for a new radiator and $2,000 for the battery. $9,600 in one year and 25k miles. Should have gotten an extended warranty, not bought a used M car at all or maybe not the best daily driver with that kind of mileage. Either way, I loved that car. Loving the X5 too for different reasons obviously. Updated pic of my X5. https://g05.bimmerpost.com/forums/at...1&d=1562880476 Last edited by SJW; 07-11-2019 at 04:52 PM.. |

Not quite. M4 was pushing 500bhp. i drove a 50i as well before deciding. Was an extra $10k US. I drive a lot of miles so mpg factored in as well. I am happy with with X5 40i. I will drive it for two years, give it to my wife and get something else.
