Had a little fun with a g37

Hey there folks so ive read and seen g37 times and it doesnt seem to be as fast as us 335 guys. However i had a little fun with a guy in an auto g37 against my manual 335.

To my suprise i couldnt pull an inch, from 0-70. I know i could beat him if i launch, and not to brag but im an awesome driver. I had perfect 1st to second and 2nd to third shift.

I'm not really suprised. It's got 30 more HP, and all he has to do is mash the gas.

it also has very close gear ratios... all the mags prove the 335i mt is under 5 sec while the g37 auto is around 5.5-6.1 sec... did u have a bad launch, full tank, windows open, full load of passengers, a/c blasting??

Ya I agree...pretty much any of the "tunes" and he shouldn't have too much trouble.

Unless it's going from midrange, I'd imagine the G37 could hang until high speed.

IMO, very under-rated car in terms of overall quality. Very competitive with the 335i, and very similar in terms of acceleration in the top end of the G37's rpm range.

Both cars dyno 280ish peak to the wheels, the 335 is underrated. The 335 on the other hand has a leg up on the rest of the curve besides peak, the g35 on the other hand has lower gearing (higher number, lower speed) which evens things back out.

They are close, it USED to be you could just save 10k on a g35 and slap some turbos on it. But the price difference is not that much anymore and for the first 100 or even 150 more HP the BMW is still going to be cheaper. (holy shit did I just say a BMW was cheaper to mod then a nissan?)

I've owned both... well G35S, not G37S.. but...

although the G was a great car, fast, good handling, and nice interior....
they are NOT close in the way they drive...

bmw much smoother, quiter, and just much different handling..
the G engine is loud and vibrates and the ride is kidney crunching.... seats are not like the bmw seats either.

look at my sig... this is coming from someone who swore by Jap cars and I've owned 3 infiniti's!!

you are right...the 335i is underrated....manufactures lists HP ratings at the flywheel which is always greater than at the wheels.....BMW listed the 335i at 300 hp...however it's 333 hp!....BMW also stated on their web site and in print that the 335i does 5.6sec 0-60!!! why do they do that????....doesnt make sense!

Because of the e46 M3, same reason the 08 vette is rated at 430 when its really 460hp.

I've driven the G37 and it felt a little bit slower..not much though. Could just be my butt dyno with the low end torque of the 335. What's the G37 running 5-60 anybody know? I think the 335 is 5.8 seconds.
