Thieves make off with $250,000 worth of Chevy wheels, leave cars on blocks

http://mashable.com/2016/08/25/chevr.../#ZN6Ld.EZKgqj

Oh man this was some surgical and well planned theft to steal this many wheels at one time. Their rent-a-cop will definitely get fired for this.

Rent a cop was probably in on it.. Or was so fucking lazy that he never bother to patrol the lot.

Given he probably made like $14hr he probably doesn't give a shit too.

Unless they had plans to shipping out of the country. It seems like they would be easy to catch when they go to sell more than a couple sets of these things.

Also, the numbers do not add up... $250k worth, 48 cars, means that on average, that's $5208 per car, or $1302 per corner. Isn't that expensive for Chevy wheels/tires? A tire is $300 at the most, maiking them value these wheels at $1000/ea.

Even still $250k would be MSRP not street value. I mean just how many Chevy guys are they planning to come across in desperate need of OEM wheels

Sounds like insurance fraud.... Think about how long it would take to get all those wheels off.

By Hand would be quiet but slow, Power would make too much noise.

You'd need to haul these things into a big truck. This would be a huge operation and no one saw or heard anything...

Everything is over insured and the wheels are the easiest thing to steal, and untraceable....Especially for domestic brand new wheels.

I would probably focus on the owner of the dealership.

With a crew of 6 this job could easily be done in an hour and a half.

2 guys designated for jacking up the car (1 guy per car side)
2 guys designated for unscrewing the lugs (1 guy per car side)
2 guys loading wheels on 2-wheel dollies and pushing into truck.

In two minutes one car can be stripped of its wheels. This was a walk in the park operation for these guys as long as they stayed orchestrated.
