What the recently released order guide reveals

Morning,

Quick note about some things I've noticed in the updated order guide.

Active protection is now standard. Many customers have complained about the lack of standard advanced safety features compared to our competition. Starting with the 2019 model X3, and carrying into this G05 X5 release BMW will give customers some advanced safety features as a standard.

Live Cockpit! We have all seen the photos, and although some new features will be expensive options we now know the new dash is included as a standard on the X5. This gives the enhanced display including navigation information.(fully digital)

**Also standard: BLIND SPOT, LANE DEPARTURE, FRONT/PEDESTRIAN COLLISION WARNING. Full adaptive LED headlights, Sirius XM, Apple Car Play(wireless), Connected drive Pro(not sure what this is), and Trailer Hitch Pre-Wiring

Oringinally Posted that there was a major maintenance change, however I just read it wrong, sorry for any confusion.

Can't order Dynamic Handling on 40i?

May be misreading this guide, but it doesn't appear that one can order the Dynamic Handling Package on the 40i.

Active Roll Stabilization is a phenomenal option and makes the X5 very flat while cornering.

Hope it is available for the 40i.

That would be deal breaker for me!

No DHP on 40? Say it's not so . . .

I've got DHP on my 2016 X5, and it makes a huge difference in how the truck handles. I know that not many people chose this option on their X5's (at least on the 35's), but how hard could it be to make it available? I hope this changes

ZX5 Active Roll Stabilization

Another question. Does anyone know if the new X5 will include the sliding/reclining 2nd row seats? I had to pay extra for it on my '16 but it was well worth the money.

So you are confirming ZDH is optional for the 40i @ $3650 despite the ordering guide indicating otherwise?

Yes, available to order on 50i, but not 40i?

Yes, it does appear as an available option on the 50i, but does not appear as an available option on the 40i. Not sure why.

May be in minority here, but DHP is the #1 option in my mind, and not having it as an available option on the 40i means I will probably wait until the 2020 model is announced in Summer of 2019 to see if they have opened up that option to the I-6 engine.

Love the new X5 but don't want/need the V-8. And, unfortunately, it seems that the only way to get DHP/Active Roll Stabilization, is to order the V-8. Ugh.

+1 ^^^
This would be a major let down for me as well. Looks like the M Sport Exhaust as part of ZMP also isn't available for the 40i and just the 50i

You can get M Sport brakes and integral steering on the 40i. Seems like what is really missing is the Active Roll Stabilization.

No DHP for this barge means I'll be holding onto the X3 M40i for a awhile...

eww, $5850 for the 40i M sport package? Yikes, might have to pass on that.

I'm so disappointed with the lack of ZDH for the 40i! What a buzzkill to finally be all excited about the release of the ordering guides and it not be available. And no M Sport Exhaust with ZMP for the 40i!! WTH BMW?!?!

I'll admit that if the DHP isn't available on the 40i, I'm not definitively crossing it off my list. I'll have to drive a base 40i with the adaptive dampers and 4-wheel steering to decide if the truck is "good enough," but coming from a vehicle with the DHP, I'm expecting to be let down by a non-DHP vehicle.

Sadly, my lease on my '16 is up in October, so I won't have the advantage of waiting for the 2020 model year to see if BMW NA reverses this rather odd decision.

Notice that 40i buyers will also miss out on the M-differential as well if there is no DHP.

Also, I might as well gripe about the MSport pricing as well. $5800 bucks for something that does nothing to enhance the sporting nature of the vehicle? How I miss the days of BMWs Sport and MSport packages actually offering performance enhancements instead of merely cosmetic add-ons and such.

The information as it stands now, based upon these ordering guides, actually makes my decision easy.

I just picked up a X3 M40i back in January, but I knew I would fall in love with the MSport G05 once revealed, coming from 2 previous MSport X5s (E70, F15), something about the stance of those 315 meaty rear tires!! But my non-negotiables for the G05 were: MSport (w/MPE), DHP, extended merino leather, and 22"--2 out of those 4 aren't going to cut for me. Guess I'll just have to rebuild my anticipation for the upcoming X3M!!

Minor details, but looks like the US gets left out on the ambient air package and the panoramic sky lounge roof that the configurators for other countries show as options.
