Last week I got H&R springs installed on my xdrive 40i. The advertised drop is 1.4" max but honestly to the naked eye it doesn't even look like it has dropped. I see the difference though and hopefully my 22" wheels will help close the gap even more once I get them installed a few weeks down the line. The install shop said that it could further settle by a few mm but not much more. Overall I am happy that I didn't spend the money for MSS because they advertise a 1.8" max drop so for the additional .4" I don't think it is worth spending 4x the money as compared to the H&R springs.

I am keeping my stock springs just in case I want to use them in the future but I am also open to selling them to anyone that wants it - doubt anyone would though lol.

Bought them from Ben r33_RGSport and very happy with the service and shipping speed. Was very well packaged as well for such a heavy item!

Here are some before, during install and after pictures - the pictures are not taken on absolute level ground though so may look different in some pictures.

How do you like the increased handling etc? How much did you pay for the install? Mine go on in 2 weeks!

Better handling? It feels the same to me and the ride feels maybe 20% stiffer but no major noticeable difference.

I barely feel any difference in handling to be honest. Road feel is also similar - the only difference I think is in terms of a stiffer suspension feel but nothing crazy.

Can you even tell the difference? I mean just from the photos would you have been able to tell the difference if I had not mentioned it? You were not able to in my other thread that I had posted asking for a spot the difference lol

Hard to tell from 2 different angle.
I know that when I did 40i in-house, I barely can tell the difference.

Yeah exactly…barely any difference lol. Glad I didn't spend $1200 on the MSS and then another 700 for its install lol.

Nice. I just got my H&R install with alignment done yesterday. Took 8 hours... Lots of shop hours

The local BMW auto repair shop was extra careful as this was the first 2022 X5 that they had worked on for suspension. They alignment had to be done off site at a local alignment specialist. That took 3 hours alone…

I can feel some difference in handling on my M50i. Before even in Sport Plus mode, there was body roll. I now notice not as much body roll and am more comfortable going into twisties. I came from a Audi RS5 coupe (beast) and a AMG e53 so I’’m getting used to the taller stance. Love the drop overall.

So is it really more of a .5-.75 inch drop? Hard to tell from the pics. I’ve had H&R springs on 2 other cars and it’s been a full inch at least or more…

I'm assuming the H&Rs have settled since the install? I know they need a bit of time to settle down, you won't see big drop right away especially with smaller rims.
I had similar experience with E70 back in a day but once they settled and wheels were changed it was great!

probably the best option for 40i at this time

I agree. Yes it seems like they may have settled a bit but haven't driven it a lot so maybe a few more miles and I'll see the difference. I am also going to be installing 22" wheels so hopefully that should make it look even better. 🤞🏻
