G05 Laser Lights require FDA stickers
The FDA considers all laser products as medical devices and just like i8 they are requiring these beautiful stickers to be placed on the headlights.

Wonder how easy it would be to remove those. That looks really bad.

Yep those are medical devices alright. Government "protection" at its best.

Does that mean the new X5 has medical grade headlights? :

FWIW... did not see the stickers on vehicles (with Laserlight) in the factory video. Perhaps they weren't destined for the US.

Laser highs kick in at about 40 mph. Below that, your hi beams are plain old LEDs.

Hopefully the 40mph limit can be lowered with coding. I remember when the anti-dazzle was finally cracked!!! Man what a difference it made in rural areas. I really can't imagine right now going back to non active headlights. Can't wait to see the lasers in action. The sticker....eh I'm in the car and wont see it, but I will see the road ahead!!

Does anyone know if the i8 laser lights have been successfully coded? I haven't had a chance to research. Think that is the only current BMW in production with laser lights. |

Awesome. If they made the sticker a little larger, it might block the headlight. I don't recall ever hearing about this from other cars available with laser headlights. I think the BMW i8 had as option, as well as Audi R8. This is not the way to find out.

I confirmed the sticker is on the i8 headlight...ugh
The situation with the NHTSA position on all things headlights is ridiculous in light of advancements in technology. |

I read about the laser lights warning sign over on the i8 forum...apparently it's not a sticker but a piece of plastic that is embedded on headlight housing...might make harder to remove than a simple sticker. time will tell.
