License Plates

Hello all,

I just received my license plates for the dealer. Any recommendations for a tow hook license plate? Friends have said US Mill Works is the best but I do not see it available for G05. Do they interfere with the parking sensors?

Thanks.

I use cravenspeed for my tow hook plates. I worked with them to get one made for the g05. They shipped it to me and come to find out bmw decided to change the diameter of the tow hook from the size that they usually use. The one the fits the 18 x5 slides right inside of the tow hook location without even touching the sides. So they are going back to the drawing board.

I know with US Mill Works, you can easily detach the plate when needed (e.g. dealer carwash). They also have lightened model w/ holes to help prevent issues with the car sensors. Anything similar with Cravenspeed?

Yes the plate can be removed easy with supplied flat wrench, one turn and then you can just slide it off. No lights. I would hold off on dealing with craven for the time being, having some difficulty. With my G30 I had no problems.

Will hold off for now until a cop pulls me over. Thanks.

I wish I was joking about my collection. I hate front plates even with a proper (Non-OEM) mount.

Is there a spot for the plate or does the dealer screw it to the bumper. I don't want the front plate so do i need to tell the dealer before the car gets here so they don't cause damage to the front bumper?

Both in my G01 last year and and G02 this year the front license plate bracket has a small couple hooks built in that will hold on to the matching notches in the bumper. This is all on the Underside of the bracket .

I installed the front bracket on both the X3 and x4.

I would expect the g05 to be the same.

it also screws intro the bumper so that's a no go if you value not having holes drilled up there

Yes two screws . I thought that was implied since we know the dealer has to screw on.

I realize my post was not completely clear .

I thought people were wondering if the dealer was guessing where the bracket would go.

Front license not required in my state, but yet again the dealer gave me a rubber wrap around in case I move to a state that requires front tags.
