Drawback of being an early adopter, I guess.
Yep seems they are still working out the kinks - I am day 4 QC today it looks like. Genius yesterday said if I want they can open an inquiry with the factory to try to get more info, might try that today.

I've been trying to figure this out too.

I started as a week 48 with about 13 others in these forums. 10 of them have taken actual delivery of their truck (delivered to dealer - prepped - delivered). salfeet84, JLR0523, PhatBoyG, Mtnskier, TLg05, kschac, nyfinest, ghurty, Drago72, etc.... Some over a week ago

The rest of us week 48ers: BMV is still in QA with joeruby1. I'm sitting in a parking lot somewhere "awaiting carrier".

In the meantime, we're seeing some week 49 trucks fly through QC in under 12 hours and are in transit to the dealer.

Can I get a "WTF!?"

Ya like $500 a day in QC over 1 day - needs to be some incentive for them to move out of QC. You might make money soon!

For the record, my x5 has been “at the port” since 12/5 with an estimated arrival at Oxnard, Ca of 12/20. Rep on the phone said “at the port” means it’s in transit, likely on a train to the Oxnard processing plant. I find it difficult to believe it takes 15 days on train to travel from South Carolina to California. That’s all I know at the moment.

TLg05 - right! Sorry, I knew yours was en route. If you lived on the East Coast, you'd be driving it. More to the point, it left the factory more than a week ago.

I'm thinking about getting a trailer and driving down and delivering mine personally - it would be faster! ;-)

Once the car is awaiting carrier, how long does it normally take to get up the east coast? Do they work on weekends?

My week 50 build "began production" on Dec 7. Was supposed to be completed Dec 14 (today). It hasn't moved from production begins. Called Genius today, and he said from his information, it is "highly likely" it will be delayed but he no new completion date. He couldn't tell from his view that any step has begun other than VIN assigned. Guess there's a slow down in more than just QC. If mine sits in QC as long as some of you guys, guess I'll be getting mine in in the spring.....just not sure which year yet.

I just sign the paper on December 8. My rep said something about end of December production. I’m wondering how long to take to get the car after sign paper with dealer?

New theory - BMW is prioritizing higher priced vehicles for delivery before year end to pad 2018 X5 revenue.

It means it should complete production week 1 (although lately that has been delayed 1 to 2 weeks with a lot of builds.) . Once it completes then it has to get shipped and to your dealer, can be 1-3 weeks depending on location in the US - Portland Oregon is about worst case for shipping 2-3 weeks to get to Oxnard CA and maybe another few days on top fo that - I would say end of January would be a good guess.

Ya day 5 for me also, called yesterday and they called the genius counterparts at the factory but came back with no additional info - hopefully your CA can maybe see more about what is going on!

Just changed to "Dispatched from Factory after sitting at "Awaiting Carrier" for 5 days. I'll keep my fingers crossed for delivery next weekend but after all the time it's taken so far, all bets are off

Seems like every step in the build process has been slowed down/delayed. Maybe it's less people in the plant due to the holidays. Maybe the weather in SC has caused issues with parts supply and shipping vehicles out via truck transport. Maybe some of the "in the field" issues with shipped X5s are starting to come in and get addressed?

Hard to say - maybe a number of things, but it took BMW 3 days shy of a calendar month to get my build from Start of Production to Dispatched from Factory. It looks like a few others will be well longer than me.

I'll be routing for you BMV and joeruby1.

Lumpy - call BMW Genius. My garage still says waiting carrier assignment, but Genius says it’s on a truck and will be delivered on 12/17.

Thanks Heinzena - that's great news. I called them yesterday and they let me know I was not on a truck - and, because I was delayed, no estimate on delivery. That changed this AM - Pretty happy to be switched to dispatched! Will check with a Genius Monday to see what they have in their system. I don't want to jinx myself but it looks like I'll be able to squeeze in a delivery before Christmas. When I was originally a week 46, dealer was thinking before Thanksgiving - been a long haul.
