Week 50 Build

Anyone have a week 50 build that has started production? I was assigned a VIN# about 10
days ago and ever since then I have been waiting for the status to change from Production Begins to Exterior Body Assembly Begins

I was assigned week 50. Short answer, Production is complete.

Longer answer: I placed my order in late Oct. but was on hold because of the Comfort Handling Package (SOP 12/18). I wasn't given a VIN or Production number until Monday, 12/10, at which point it was already in Quality Assurance. I'm Awaiting Carrier Assignment now (2 days and counting). So, it was either bumped up to week 49 or completed in week 50 on the Monday of week 50. Not sure how to tell.

Does anyone know how often the production status is updated? Is it a real time thing or updated once a day?

Same as you - just checked and no change. I guess if it is not updated tomorrow then it becomes a 51. Perhaps a delay with one of the components (third row maybe for me).

Hope yours will get on a truck soon for delivery in the Washington DC area before Christmas !

I am kind of disappointed on the production tracking experience
sometime no update and it does several steps has already passed within the same day.

My week 49 Production begin on 11/28 with a completion date of 12/7. It was delayed to 12/12 then again 12/13 ( became week 50). Status changed to " Entering assembly line " yesterday morning 12/12 then "QC" last night before I went to bed and now is " Awaiting carrier assignment".
It is a long shot but it will get on a west bound train soon to have it delivered to California before New Year !

Hope they have sort out most of the production problems and issues that bought up in this forums !

I have a week 50 build xdrive 50i, ordered in August but assigned week 50 due to December SOP options such as Driver Assist Professional, and Bowers & Wilkens sound system. It went to Production Begins on 12/7, VIN assigned, with target completion on 12/14. It has stayed at Production Begins all week. I'm hoping the online tracking is behind as I'm sure it isn't updated real-time or even daily. Hope to find out more tomorrow when it is due to be complete.

Yes a Miracle in deed ! It is already dispatched from the factory earlier today.
Hope it will get on a train very soon and head for the west coast VDC at Oxnard in 1-2 days.
With some Christmas magic, I may still see it before the New Year !

I wonder if the status show " At the port " is actually arrived at BMW VDC ?

Mine has moved to 5300 and is now due to be in London on 5 January (instead of last week of January). Seems they are steaming ahead! Should be one of the first 40i in the UK, at least with third row.

they're taking more time for me. It was supposed to be a DEC build with a JAN delivery to Germany, not it's the 2nd week of JAN as build week and the 1st week of FEB for delivery...I did have DEC options added so perhaps that drove the delay.

Seems like a lot X5's are getting delayed. I don't understand why it's hard to meet an internal goal of X date especially when it's conveyed to customers. If they can't meet the expectation then there needs to be a damn good reason and apology sent to each customer affected. While this might sound dumb, little things go a long way.

Mine has 3rd row seating (i.e. a Dec option).

But until it is actually here who knows.

it might be some of the options (new or old ones) generated higher demand than assumed, thus their supply can't cope with the actual volumes. It's pretty common to base your initial stock on previous cars choices but it might just be they have more success than assumed. I recall the dealer telling me at the moment of signing for the car that he was actually amazed so many people would just go for a new car without even seeing it in person or test driving it. He went on and on about when I could test drive it while I was on and on about orderring it. My decision was based on a flawless F15...now I can only hope the G05 will offer the same (reading here the various issues with this new model that do smell of it being perhaps rushed into production)

3rd Row is a February option, they moved it out about back in October SOP 02/19 last I saw and it isn't on the configurator yet, so are you sure you are being built this month?

Edit - just saw you are in London and for some reason the 3rd row was available in Dec there, so nevermind.

Anyone know the normal shipping time from US to UK? I thought it was 7-14 days?

Looks like BMW is setting the bar very low for their production estimates and they can't even meet that. I think we should all voice our concerns with BMW NA to see if we can make a change for everyone in the future

Does seem odd that it is a week 50 build, assembly complete, and now saying 7 weeks to get across the pond. hey ho, saves paying for two cars for a month!

I got similarly frustrated with just about every car I have bought, it consumes you until it arrives and then you couldn't care less. Still, complaining tends to get free accessories/demos etc. Worth a shot.

I especially like the sawtooth-shaped foam on the doors. maybe you can leave it on to prevent dents on the edge of the door in the future.
