C&D Instrumental Test

C&D finally published their instrumental test of the X5, but they haven't tried the 50i yet.

Interestingly, from 70-0 the brakes stopped at 170 feet. 8 feet shorter than the F35. I did see a couple of posts here that felt the stock brakes were not on par with the F35.

The photos show the upgraded M-Sport brakes on their car. The text isn’t clear as to whether or or not their test results were with the standard or M brakes.

Good catch. Safe to assume those pictures are of their actual tester and they did mention a $72K MSRP so probably did test the M brakes.

Unless they explicitly state what was used it's hard to say. C&D could've taken pictures of another model they got but didn't test which happens.

Our own member confirmed his 50i M-Sport did 4.3 seconds with 3/4 tank of gas and a not broke-in engine. It’s gonna do better than 4.3 seconds when it is set up for optimum runs. I wouldn’t be shocked if it does under 4 second.

For a single brake test the tire is going to matter more....repeated tests will show the advantage of the larger m brake system. The condition of the track surface can also make a difference. 70-0 in 170ft is good but not spectacular.

C&D does repeated tests with a cool down in between to ensure accuracy in their results.

C&D's time are more for confirmation since we know he ran it in 4.33s. I think with the larger, wide wheels+tires it'll do it a hair faster. On a prepped drag strip I could see low 4's

The new 520 hp v8 coming mid next year might go quicker than 4 seconds to 60
