Coding addresses the daytime brightness issue, but at nighttime it would need to be adjusted by the wheel because it gets too bright. Unfortunately the wheel also dims the orange button lights and is not ideal at night driving.

I'm using the coding option and have not noticed any issues with buttons being too dim. Everything is still very clearly visible.
