I am partaking, as well as a couple of my friends. Since I WFH, I don't really have any issue cracking a beer at 3pm on a Friday. We all recently got into the new Call of Duty, and will play drinking games whilst gaming. I usually have a few during the week, and then a few more on the weekends. Never really gone more than 10 or so days without having something to drink since I turned 21 (26 now), so it'll be nice to scale it back.

Never saw the point. Going to aim for single digit BF % this year, not far off now. I think those that blame drinking on their poor health are usually indulging in else that is far worse. Pick your poison 🤷‍♂️

I'd suggest being more intentional about getting *more sunlight, as you drink less, particularly during the winter months. We get less sunlight during the winter which can lead to some forms of S.A.D (seasonal affective disorder). So in many cases, people will drink more to combat the lack of sunlight which is affecting their mood, then they get less quality sleep, then they end up eating more junk.

January will be easy as every month for me is dry, haha. The social integration of alcohol is funny.

Gave up drinking years ago. Too much alcoholism in the family and I just learned that I am better off without it.

Got no problem with others imbibing as long as it is not mixed with driving. Sorry but that just takes a special sort of stupid

Definitely this. Especially because it can take lives. Penalties for DUI should be much more severe.

I didn't have my first drink until maybe 23-24? Never developed an interest in it, occasionally have one when I am flying and it's free. I don't envy anyone who drinks and especially has a taste for it. It's poison. My vice is sugar, so I will try to forego it as much as I can.

I am cutting back on beer this month as last month was a hoppstastophy. However, a vodka martini will still be on my 9 pm itinerary.

I didn't drink a drop of alcohol from Thanksgiving until December 26th, so basically 31 days. This was through several holiday parties, neighborhood get togethers and Christmas day itself. I did it primarily as a health thing, as alcohol tends to give me headaches and terrible sleep even after a drink or two, and beer specifically messes with my digestive system. It was surprisingly easy.

I did have a double bourbon on December 26th though, and almost immediately got a headache and then slept like crap that night. Lesson learned!

I'm not saying I'm giving up drinking forever. I enjoy bourbons and have several bottles and a few friends that are also into it... but I've decided that I'm going to drink very infrequently and also when I do drink, I want it to be something top tier. One or two good cocktails or bourbons a couple times a month is about it.

I wasn't planning on dry January but here I am on Jan 11 and I haven't had any alcohol since new years weekend. It's going well and much easier than I thought it would. Feeling so much better too mentally and physically. Planning to hold off on any drinking until we head to the Bahamas in mid-February. Then the plan is to drink in moderation moving forward. The start of covid until a couple weeks ago my drinking was a bit much.

Went to the gym last night, and sat in sauna for 15 minutes after. Got home, too tired to pour 2 fingers before going to bed. Does that count?

Yes lets say it does. I don't recommend alcohol after a sauna session unless you drink a bunch of water too!

That was SOP on the boat: Mid-afternoon I'd go to the thermal spa and spend 10 minutes or so in each variation (dry sauna, Japan pool, steam room, chill shower) drinking a cup of citrus infused water after each location. That would sweat out all the old alcohol, and prime me for the 5:00 bar meet-up to go enjoy dinner.

I think the accepted within reason limit is 14 drinks per week (or 2 per day for men)... albeit that seems high to me...

I couldn't drink more than 10 even if I tried... say 2 mid week, 3 friday and 3 saturday would be absolute max.
