DAP in LCI vs non-LCI

Curious - I know the LCI has the highway assistant allowing hands free highway driving, but has the system improved in any other measurable ways? I find it works well in my 2023 but wondering if the upgrade to an LCI will give me any added benefit as it relates to the DAP package.

In LCI the DAP does work quite a bit better than pre-LCI in a few way: it handles cars merging in-and-out more smoothly; it kind of "predict" the car is cutting you off a bit earlier and slow down rather than slam on the brake last minute; it also handles a few more complex situation such as lane split; lane marking temporarily missing, and curve speed a bit better.

But upgrading from a '23 just for this sounds like a bit overkill to me.

There's also the highway assist (hands free). Where I live almost all the major highways are not approved yet so there's no opportunity for me to use it.

I'm coming from 23 530i DAP which should have same DAP as pre-LCI. The new LCI DAP is so sensitive with keeping your eyes on the road that I can't even take a sip of coffee without the car beeping and automatically turning off auto drive function. So I just end up not using it most of the time. I never had that problem with pre-LCI DAP. Also with lack of gear knob, I don't really have any place to rest my hands so it's really super awkward to not hold the steering wheel as I have nothing else to hold on to!

Appreciate the feedback.

Has anyone noticed an improvement in the rain, especially at night with the LCI. That's one area where Volvo's pilot assist really beats out BMW.

With light rain, highway assist still works. But with moderate to heavy rain, highway assist does not get activated.

It's important to note there's a difference between non-LCI and LCI; and also, iDrive 8 and iDrive 8.5.

My LCI was delivered with iDrive 8, and I recently was upgraded (or downgraded, depending on one's opinion ) to iDrive 8.5.

DAP with 8.5 activates the Traffic and Highway assistants as soon as hands come off the wheel, which is actually pretty cool.

It also does a much better job of gradual movements--there seems to be less "slam on the brakes" moments, and lane changes are more silky compared to iDrive 8, when a lane change was done with full intention.

It's nice to see they are evolving DAP's functionality, because it's really a great technology on longer trips.
