One of the things that bothers me with the 2019 & 2020 x5 is every time I start the vehicle, I have to manually go back to my preset media stations. In my 2017, it stayed on presets. Hopefully this will be corrected with a software update. I called BMW Genius and they said others have complained about this as well. Does anyone know if this is fixed in the software update that was just released?

Yap. Apparently it used work right (stayed in presets) in 11/2018.xx versions and got broken after that. All 3/2019.xx versions appear to be broken, but it would be good to hear from anyone on whether that's fixed in 7/2019.xx and what their .xx is.

In the meantime, many of us have committed a shortcut button to that.

My Presets stick, at least in the HUD. I have a 2020 X5 7/2019.35 version

I have the 07/2019/.53 and preset is still there when I restart my X5.

I am on 07/2019.39 and presets persist. Although once or twice since I had the upgrade a month ago it reverted back to normal radio stations.

so far with update 7/2019.53 my Presets are staying on last station. Even some xm stations I have saved in Presets remain on when re-entering vehicle. Although I have noticed text messages still show up as <unknown>.

What i am talking about is i have about 15 stations in my presets.
The station i was listening to when i shut the vehicle off is the same station that is on when i restart but if i want to go to another preset, i have to go to Media menu and switch back to presets. In my 2017 the Media selection would remain on presets.

I know very annoying. This is one of the EXACT same issues I had with 3/2019.xx software on IDrive7. As soon as I went to 07/2019.39+ it went back to staying on preset. I think the latest is 07/2019.53 - which I just got earlier this week.

I have complained about this for 2-1/2 years since getting my 2017 G30 5 series. Sometimes the presets stick. Most times they don't. Similar to sometimes the audio shuts off with the car. Sometimes it doesn't... That iDrive is an inconsistent mystery.
