Instrument Display Brightness

I picked up my new car last week and all going well however, I find the instruments display a bit dull but can't seem to adjust the brightness.

The adjustment wheel next to the light switches does nothing and the night display settings also do nothing.

Any suggestions welcome.

It seems to be noticeable at night then in the daylight.

Same with mine but it does work at night. I think this is new since the latest software update, but perhaps that's how it always worked.

is your car tinted? If so, that can cause the car to think it is dark and hence the dash will not be as bright.

Just in the rear mate

I am a bit puzzled as to why I can't adjust it manually, especially since there is a thumb wheel to do this. ☹️

I agree that is seems weird that the dial doesn’t adjust the brightness during the day. It is also strange that you have a separate night display brightness setting in the menus for the main display but not a daytime adjustment. Our 2010 idrive 335 system had adjustments for both day and night. Odd.

You may be interested in this device and not even deal with that dial henceforth.

And also, congratulations on so smoothly and seamlessly responding to 1.5yo necropost as if it was "just yesterday" :-)

this thread has helped me. I find that opening the panorama screen partially during the day helps.

The sensor is in the left side of the dash LCD - if you turn on the torch on your phone - and point it to the left side of the dash, it should artificially brighten - at least you know the culprit.
