Probably is. It is all explained on the certificate. If you are a member of the Navy Federal CU then you can get it at https://navyfederal.truecar.com/oem/landing/bmw/. If not then you can get it through TrueCar using ID.me at https://www.truecar.com/oem/landing/bmw/. You can get verified on the BMW site but I don't like that method since it sends the info to the dealer and doesn't generate a certificate, at least that is how it was. https://www.bmwusa.com/special-offer...incentive.html

I guess times are tough for salesman and they need some high margin stuff to add, but dang. We're paying full MSRP, but hoping to get $2K as my FIL is retired military.

Door edge guards - $299
Nitrogen - $199
2 front windows tinted - $499
So a surprise $1k for a bunch of nothing - nitrogen?

Then there's a deal admin fee of $150

Basically I want to know if I say I'm not paying for any of the $1K stuff, will they simply put it on their lot and sell it this weekend? I don't see any PHEVs for sale anywhere - I suspect where I am (austin) there are others in line they would call (however, ours is highly optioned, $80K)

They haven't started any of the "extras" to my knowledge so I could call him now and tell him to save his labor/parts and I'll take it as is.
Thanks!
I am picking up my car in Spartanburg and my dealer has added all the above also. They can't be doing the add on in Spartanburg, could they?

Ev Lease Credit

Hi all,

Looking at an X5 45e lease. It doesn't seem as if BMW has a lease credit for the $7500 EV tax credit, and that it only applies if you purchase the car. I understand that the tax credit goes to the owner, which in this case would be BMW financial services, but I've seen other manufacturers (Audi) provide a lease credit for what they will receive from the government.

Has anyone been able to get the EV tax credit as part of the lease?

That is correct, Audi and probably other brand are able to pass it on to a leasee, but BMW will only grant it towards a purchase.

Spartanburg doesn't add the dealer add-ons.

Interesting... by not passing through the EV credit, BMW makes an additional $7500 on a lease vs a purchase.

Audi will pass the tax credit but may inflate the MF on the EVs so they recapture most of the credit via higher interest. I remember I was considering the etron when it first came out 2 years ago and the extra interest from the difference between the MF on their regular vehicles and the etron was close to 7K. Could be a coincidence but I doubt it.

I worked at the Audi dealership for a few months last year and we didn't do that on etron deals

You didn’t pass the credit or inflate the MF? The MF is already inflated by Audi. Here are the current MFs for etron, Q5 PHEV, and regular Q5:
Etron - 0.00244
Q5 PHEV - 0.0025
Q5 - 0.00186

I will let you connect the dots.

We passed the credit, but didn't overinflate the MF. It was a year ago, before the shortage and inflation, not sure how they are doing now. All i know is that Audi dealers are struggling with inventory really bad.

I hear everyone complain about not having inventory. However, the dealers also say more than half of their order book is already sold. I don't think dealers' profits are suffering as much as the media is making it seem.

The MF is already criminally inflated by Audi. If you look at the official MFs that I’ve provided 2 posts above, there’s a difference in the MF for the regular trim Q5 and the plug in hybrid. I just did a quick calculation and this difference results in about 3K more interest if you lease the plug in hybrid.

I'll be honest, I don't remember what MFs were last year. But one thing for sure-Audi never leased well. It was always hard for me to justify and explain to costumer why lease payments were higher compared to similarly priced BMWs and even Mercs.

With the interest rates rising, does anyone have information on rates being now quoted by BMW Financial?

The rate quoted on my early March order was 3.9% and I'm told that's good for 60 days before it gets requoted. I'm going to miss that 60 day window by a few weeks and I'm probably not willing to pay too much more before switching to cash for the purchase.

It's actually good for 120 days now. So far the APR is the same.

I've been finding rates are half as much at local credit unions. 1.89 for 60 months.

I just ordered basically a fully loaded X5 M50i at MSRP. Dealer does add $150 document fee and $295 for Window Tint. While $295 for tint is pretty damn high, as long as I get all of the windows tinted I can live with paying it.
They did tell me the X5M would be $20k over MSRP

FWIW the local MB dealer wanted $5k over MSRP for a GLE AMG 53 that would be delivered in late August.

Placed my order for a 22 40i from bmw nw in tacoma, WA.
No written agreement, everything verbal.

Placed $1000 refundable deposit (verbal), he said it will be msrp plus tax and license. If I wanted to back out an anytime, I would get my money back. I asked about financing, he said dealers site says 2.9%, so as long as I qualify, thats what you get.

All I received was an emailed build sheet with my MSRP of 82k.

Production started 4 days later. Expected delivery mid june or sooner.

Lets hope the dealer sticks to their word.

Cheers

I would make sure your name is on the build sheet under customer name and that priority is set to "1". Don't usually need much else for an order.

I would also recommend asking to lock the rate as BMW FS rates have been trending up. Otherwise you'll get whatever the programs are when taking delivery, which will likely be higher. They'll ask you to fill out a credit application and they'll submit it to the bank to lock rate for 90 days.

Could always look into credit union options as well between now and close to delivery day as rates may be lower through them depending on your credit, term, and how much money you'll be putting down. BMW NW works with credit unions as well so they can set it up directly closer to delivery day, but CUs typically don't lock rates for more than a month or so. Locking rates with BMW FS will at least ensure you have a fallback.
