Just got a quote today from dealer to add a hitch to my wife’s X5.

$1,700 installed with wiring harness....

I called another option who recommended the stealth hitch, installed for $700, no wiring harness.

Anyone else seen any other options out there?

I’m only hauling a bike carrier, and want to make sure the hitch isn’t lower than the bumper, but has the factory look of being in the bumper, which apparently only the “dealer can do” (said by both dealer and other hitch installer).

Any guidance would be appreciated.

Other than a roof mount bike carrier, I don't think you have any other options.

Get OE hitch from one of the online sources, and get it installed in one of the hitch places. Probably no more than 3 hours work.

Hmmm I'll look into that, surely a hitch within the bumper can't command such a premium!
