Bowers and Wilkins and ambient lighting?
Hi,
For those of you with B&W sound do the the lighted components of the sound system change color with the ambient lighting? There is a lot of conflicting info. If so please post pics. For a 2020 X5. Thanks Mike |

Hey Mike,
They do not change color, the bowers & wilkins is always white , you can just change the brightness of it or shut it off completely. Another thing, if your radio is off, the bowers & wilkins light is also off. |

Are you 100% sure. I’ve seen some videos which indicate you can.

I can say for sure that the B&W in my G30 is white only as jpichardo91 described. I don't have B&W in the G05 so I cannot say for sure if it's been changed for the X5.

I think that they do. In my X7, they change colors and there is a setting in the iDrive under interior lighting to activate/deactivate that feature. I did not know that they do until a week or two ago. I will see if I can find the option and shoot a photo of it in the iDrive.

B&W in my 2020 40i can be set to match ambient lighting color (you just have to turn "white" off). Will get some pics tomorrow if I remember...

Thanks guys. It’s stupid but the light change puts me over the top on whether for not I spent the extra money. If it’s all white it will make me nuts.

Driver's door speaker: Front passenger door: LED strips look white but are in fact orange - camera color-correction (speakers change according to ambient lighting color set) Last edited by Paladin1; 03-24-2020 at 12:02 PM.. |

No worries. I believe once you un-check the "white lighting" option in the menu, it'll switch to the color coordinated lighting. In either case, the BW menu in iDrive is where you'll see the option.

lol you'd spend 4200 for lights in speakers? must be nice. I got it because it sounds exceptional. its the best car audio system i've ever heard and it wants to make me listen to music. its a brilliant system. but in any case, you'll still love it. edit: you can also have it so that the woofers are part of the ambient lighting, and the tweeters are still blue. That's how I have it. I have the orange color scheme and the woofers are orange and the tweeters are blueish/white. Last edited by thereef510; 03-24-2020 at 04:42 PM.. |

Bowers & Wilkens - Can you turn off the lights in the speakers?
Hi, Im looking at adding the B&W to my ordered X5 becasue they said the Harmon Kardon cannot be supplied at present. But Im not a big fan of lights all over the place. Can you turn them off in Settings? It looks like you can but nothing on YouTube etc confirms it. Thanks

you can turn all the ambient lighting off in settings, along with changing the brightness. You can change the speakers and the general lighting independently of each other

Oh how I remember my father's Volvo 240DL with its centre ceiling light which, through throwing shadows everywhere, was probably worse on than off! |

False. Both our X7 and X5 have the lighting change in the speakers as well. Only the dashboard BW light stays white. I turned it all off and find it distracting even in the dimmed night mode.

The B&W speakers are worth it and yes, you can turn them off. My friend who works for BMW has it on his X7 and initially I did not even know they lit up since he also had them off. LOL. It's a great system!

You have the option of leaving them white or color matched to the ambient lighting. The option is in the Interior Lighting menu.

I’ve been all over the idrive settings, even spoken to bmw in the belief the coding might be missing some options, all to no avail. The speaker lights are off/white or dimmable, that’s it! |
