Microphone stopped working

The microphone in my car all of a sudden stopped working. It doesn't work with CarPlay it doesn't work with the normal BMW system. Any ideas before I take it to the dealer?

Reboot iDrive and see if that works if you have not tried that already.

Thanks. Doesn't Idrive reboot if the car has been off for a while though?

Not that I am aware of. Not saying this will solve the mic issue but its worth a shot.

Welcome to the forum. Assuming you have the problem, have you tried restarting iDrive? That often brings back features that stopped working.

I tried the 30 sec thing. Didn’t solve the issue.

Mic doesn’t seem to be working neither through CarPlay nor through voice commands.

Interesting…after finally coming back 3 years later…you STILL haven’t updated the thread with the resolution. Did you get the mic working and if so…HOW?

You may miss your X5…we miss an answer/resolution to a thread you started.

I’m here to report back on what I ended doing.

I went to the dealership and they had the driver overhead microphone changed with a new one. That seems to have solved the problem so far.
