Auto Hold discussion.
Does anyone else find the “auto hold” a bit too grippy when starting off?? I don’t use the feature that often but wondering others experience with the “auto hold” feature.

I use it all the time and find it to work very well.

Love the AH, it does get me in trouble sometimes. When I rent a car when I travel I unknowingly let off the brake and have to push back quickly.... lol but other than that never turned it off no need.

I like it - just wish it was implemented in a slightly different way. I wish I could activate it by simply pushing the break pedal, while the car is stopped, hard. That's how Mercedes does it and I prefer that way. This way when I want it on, I can activate it, but it's not automatically on.

They way it works with MB is if you want the car to auto hold, when you're at a stop light, you simply push the break in more. Then "HOLD" will show up on your dash. you can then take you foot off the brake and do want you want. I like this better than having the button on the console that I have to push to turn the Auto Hold feature on or off when I want it on. The only time it really annoys me is when I'm parallel parking. I'll be about 1/2 way through parking and so annoyed by the Auto Hold that I finally figure to turn it off.

Yeah - the only time I ever turn my off is when I know (and think to turn it off) that I'll be inching up on things by modulating the break. I guess if I practice enough I can modulate the break with enough finesse to not active AutoHold. Unfortunately I'm not that skilled yet.

Now that I have had it for over 9 years(4-BMW's), I couldn't live without it.

I can feel it slightly hold as I press the accelerator pedal from a stop. It then releases as if I was holding the handbrake a second too long. I don’t find it nearly as smooth as on my truck that implements the same idea. This could be because the X5 has a very sensitive/responsive acceleration pedal.
