you can tell the rear lights were inspired by the Porsche Macan.
The classic " oops ! I might perhaps regret leaving bmw yet I still hang out in the bmw forums " post.

Interior: 10/10.
This time I can say BMW done it right for X5 series. It finally gets proper "luxury" feeling.

Exterior:
Left/Right side = OK

Front = the grill!! OMG, somehow it looks hideous, but it would probably grow on the customers overtime. I somehow do not like the headlight separated from the grill as it makes the headlight smaller, like both eyes separated from the nose too far.

Back = WTFFFFF is this???? The only thing good on the back is the BMW logo. The headlight just looks like KIA, Hyundai or whatever.

Just quick question: why manufacturers nowadays are lazy in design? I mean it's like you made an X3 and then make it slightly bigger to become an X5. Same with mercedes, I can't really tell the difference between C and S Class other than the size.

I note several features that are listed as "available 12/2018". It makes me wonder if BMW released the X5 a little earlier than it being totally ready. I was looking to get into line with the first orders, now I'm more likely to hold for a few months. Anyone else have a perspective on the "available 12/2018" to offer?

No "M40i". The pipeline leakers say an M50i version is due down the road. This is co sister with 5er product strategy on the G chassis.

Could this mean there will be a all new Powertrain coming To badge the M50i ??
A 4 liter V8 with electric turbos please
That would be sweet, but more likely an updated variant of the now venerable N63...

The interior made a big jump quality wise. I don't like the new exterior at all. The front looks too much like the X3 and the back just doesn't do it for me. The F15 was nicer

The front and side view is nice.. those tail lights are not good at all. The F15 tails made it look more muscular, similar to the LCI E90.

GAHHHHHHHH!!!! They only increased rear legroom by 0.8 inches?

This may be a deal breaker for me. Back seat is cramped unless you're a little kid.

I do generally like it. But yes, those front grilles are too big. "Alcoholic" kidney grilles.

And yes, the rear is too generic, does look like Hyundai, not BMW.

Looking at the "upcoming model pipeline" thread insiders have shared that the M850, M550 and X5 M50i will all share the new 530hp/550lbft v8 variant debuting with the the M850.

The kidney grill on the x3 looks way better than the x5. Even though the x5 promises a lot of luxury and power, I think I might go with the x3 m40i. It's roughly the same size as the e53 x5 and looks amazing all throughout.

I'm glad they went back to having dedicated brake lights and turn signals on the taillight cluster. I'm not a fan of cars that use their brake lights as turn signals, a la Mercedes and Audi.

That's one reason why I love the LCI m3/4 so much. The extended top turn signal free of the brake lights is perfect. Where did you see that the brake and turn signal are separated on the x5?

This was supposed to be our next car. But the front grille is soooooo ugly and the rear totally looks like an Acura had a threesome with a Q7 and a Kia. Ewwwwww.

It's a helluva lot better than the new Q8 front end, IMO.

This us pretty typical for many manufacturers. They get basic production up and running before phasing in advanced options, which makes the manufacturing process go more smoothly.

In the video Jason posted today at 11:11. I took some screenshots of the turn signals coming on when the guy is walking up to the car and takes out his phone. Once he's inside he steps on the brake pedal and the brake lights come on.

Nice catch! I'm hoping this means US versions will get Amber turn signals. I hate the red turn signals.
