Not too surprised. Could be because us 2019ers gave them so much crap for that or could be because it's an M50i and not just M Sport package. Whatever. I think I've learned that a) you hope to get a reliable specimen of whatever random configuration local BMW marketing dweebs churn out that day, and then b) set it up however you want yourself ... because BMW Canada and BMW corporate decisions are random and mostly lacking competent thought or rationality — see the lack of spare wheel/tire option in Canada for a way better example of this idiocy.

I purchased two of the emblems, and now I have a few questions. The backing on the back of the badges peels back very easily and the adhesive doesn't feel very sticky. Is that normal? It seems they'd fall off very easily. Do I need to heat them with a hair dryer? Should I add another glue or adhesive? Thanks in advance for the help!

Heating improves adhesion (I wouldn't touch the adhesive back) once placed, but mine adhered pretty easily, and are firmly attached. I wouldn't add any other adhesives. Be sure to clean the surface first as others have said, with isopropyl.

Like Paladin1 said, clean the paint with alcohol first and use a hair dryer to soften the adhesive just before applying it. While I don't have your exact emblems, I have removed and installed emblems before and the adhesive backing is pretty much as you described. You have apparently already touched the adhesive with your fingers, right? That's a no no but whats done is done. While it may not feel sticky enough for you, if properly applied on a clean dirt and oil free paint surface, once on, you will not get it off so be sure to have some way to know that you have properly aligned it before pressing it on.

I normally trim the backing paper so its no larger than the emblem, this way I can see the edges of the emblem, then I use painters tape applied to the paint to mark where I want it to go. See the attached pic of a guy doing this on a Tahoe, same idea. Once you have it where you want it, peel off the adhesive starting at the end you will apply first, press a bit to make the emblem start to stick but only pull off the backing paper as you go, don't pull it all off at once because all you need is one knee jerk reaction from a passing bumblebee and before you know it, you've applied it crooked So, stick the first quarter inch or so, stand back, take a look, if all is ok, then peel and stick as you peel.

I put my fender badges on top of PPF. Installer said they should adhere just fine. PPF also had ceramic coating. They've been on for a week now with no issues.

Thank you. Mine has front PPF which includes the fender sides.

The one thing my installer did say was wait 2 weeks after PPF install before applying the badges. Guess he wanted to make sure the PPF was fully cured before sticking anything to it.

This is good info. I had mine installed after I got the car last year so it looks like I'm good to go.

Those badges should not be on anything other than an X5M or X6M

Actually BMW puts these fender emblems on a lot of European M-Sport models. They delete them in the USA. The Ms have different side vents with an m on them.

They come standard on all x5's with m pack except it in the US. I don't know why they don't put them on in the us.

I took them off because I didn't like the look on the front charging door of the 45e.

The difference with an X5M is quite obvious don't need the badges for that.

it appears M Sport package emblems tend to be smaller in size than M model emblems

I had my badges deleted as part of the order. Actually in Germany it is common that people have all Badges removed including the ones on the back. I am not sure the exact reason except don't feel the need to show what exact model/engine size they have.

They are sleepers. That may give them an edge for racing. I have two car seats and a third row. I'm in the comfort mode 99.9% of the time. However, I do enjoy the aggressive look of the M sport car.

i've been reading that's popular in EU. i'll contribute to that trend here in the US (i feel bad now as i've just had a company special order some emblems for custom work...oops!)
