The tips that I have have a 2.75" inlet, so I'm not 100% sure if 2.5" will work.

I have these FWIW:

M rear bumper/diffuser

Does anyone know where to get the "M" rear lower diffuser? I have an M50i and want the exhaust tips to be exposed with the M bumper/diffuser.

You would need to replace your entire rear bumper for the diffuser to fit.

The diffuser on the M Sport bumper is really small. I have the Ikon Motorsports rear diffuser along with their front lip.

It looks like the line where the lower half of the bumper cover is the same line on the M50i above it there are obvious differences.
Looks like 4 & 5 from the parts catalog would be all that's necessary.

There have been 2 or 3 members on the forum who have done a full X5M conversion (front and rear bumpers). But nobody has done a rear diffuser retrofit because the lower portion of the bumper is different.

There it is. I see the difference. Now I have to figure out if it's worth all that.

I've done this and didn't notice much improvement, I decided to leave mine to the default setting.

If you still want to give this a try yourself, you can purchase the Bimmerlink app on your phone to open/close the valves manually. If you open them, you can permanently have the valves opened by removing fuse 203 in your cargo area fuse box.
