Did this today in about an hour. Heated up the letters and they peeled right off. Lightly sanded the gloss away then sprayed with 3 coats of paint.

If you buy these online they are $125ish painted. Did it for $8.

Edit 8/30. Finished up the trunk emblems today. Messed one up but acetone save the day.

Nice work. Where are you seeing them online? I actually wish mine was chrome.

Looks great. Do you plan to paint the other emblems? Are you calipers painted red as well? It would bring it all together.

Thanks. Yes. I’ve mixed feeling on black cars. The maintenance drives me crazy but when they are cleaned up they look amazing. Also, the design tends to get washed out. I wanted to test my skills (I did a horrible job on my M3 the first time but learned the right method) and give it a few days to sink in but will do the rear emblems today and I put on red tire valve caps which while tiny add some detail to the wheels and match the calipers.

I totally agree with you for black cars - they only look really good when clean. I have CB and it's so nice after the wash, so first 5 mins after cleaning. Lol.

Rear emblems look sooo good!

Thanks. If I can do it anyone can. I’m terrible at crafts. Just don’t have the eye for it, don’t have steady hands or patience.

If you get tired of the all-in red, my unrequested suggestion would be to do them similar to the XM badges. Do the red as an outline around the perimeter of the letters. You get the pop but don’t lose the letters in all the red.

Lots of masking work though….

If I tried that on my own it would look nothing like that. I barely pulled the basic spraying off.
