Is / will drive recorder be available for older build g05?
I have a 50d that has a built date of oct 2018. It is fully spcd, has 3d view and drive assistant. I can't get a definitive answer if I should be able to download the drive recorder app. I get a different answers from dealers compared to the connected drive help line. Has anyone with an older g05 been able to download the drive recorder app, if so how did you do it?

Mine is a January 2019 build, with S/W level 11/2019.34, and I was able to order it via the CD store. Works perfectly, its awesome!
I really doubt anything changed between Oct 2018 and January 2019 in terms of components or systems on the G05 X5, so it should work for you. Have you checked your CD store? |

Initially $189 (Aussie Dollars) for 3 years, BUT I got BMW to refund me as compensation for Remote S/W upgrade not working.
I argued that needed to compensate me for a feature (Remote S/W upgrade) they advertised with the car, but wasn't working, and therefore had to take my car back to the Dealer Service for upgrades. So cost me nothing .... |

I had an interesting conversation with the connected drive helpdesk. The guy didn't try to fob me off. He checked my vin and options and confirmed that I should be able to use drive recorder but I must wait for an update later in the year. I'm on 11/2019/40, which is newer than James_G0530d , very strange?

It just needs the app/subscription adding to CD in the UK. You shouldn't need a software upgrade if you are on 11/2019.40 |

I remember someone mentioning in another thread (some time back...) that you need to be on at least 11/2019.xx to get Drive Recorder. It became an option for me in CD to buy as soon as my dealer updated my car from 07/2019.49 to 11/2019.34 in December 2019. In fact I got an e-mail from BMW CD to make me aware that Drive Recorder was now available in my CD store. |

Yes, I've tried it multiple times, but no luck so far. Fortunately, I am not seeing any serious bugs (I have only rebooted IDrive once in two months) and FDL coding has provided the features I was missing.

The vehicle's communications data exchanges are quite advanced, and there is definitely telemetry data passed between the car and BMW, so absolutely yes I believe they know what version S/W people are on. |
