Best looking F1 car of ALL time young or old.

We've had polls on best looking cars from modern to past masters. My choice is a car that has to be the most beautiful and futuristic looking at the time but was plagued with bad luck and unreliability though still managed to take the title in 1961. For some curious reason Ferrari destroyed all of them when it was superseded; There is one noted near exact replica of a 156 s/n belonging to the singer Chris Rea which he used in his film La Passione.

i like modern F1 cars especially for these 2 early-mid 90's.. furious and way beyond advanced for its time..

and of course Hakkinen's McLarens.. all of them are neatly packaged, pretty compact and edgy.. probably recent F1 cars are edgy on the limit as well but long wheelbase wider tires make them fairly stable below the limit..

My favorite. The 1983 Brabham BT52. An amazing combination. Nelson Piquet. Gordon Murray. Turbocharging. BMW. No driver aids. No ground effects. Three pedals. And a race car that looks like a race car.

Ferrari 156 Sharknose
"1961 Ferrari 156 Sharknose at Spa-Francorchamps 2012"

engine: 1,5L 65º V6
power: 200 bhp / 149 KW @ 10500 rpm
gearbox: Ferrari Type 543/C 5 speed Manual
weight: 460 kilo / 1014.1 lbs

Chassis: 0002R
In 2004 a Belgian enthusiast commissioned Jim Stokes in Great Britain to build a reconstruction of the 156 'Sharknose' (chassis 0002) used by Olivier Gendebien in the 1961 Belgian Grand Prix. Using as many original parts as possible, including the 65º V6 engine and five-speed gearbox, Stokes created a very accurate replica of the legendary Ferrari F1 car. The chassis and suspension were fabricated in-house using original drawings. The body was carefully crafted by bodywork specialists VintageCars. Five years in the making, chassis '0002R' made its public debut at the 2009 Goodwood Revival.

I learn to like any era of F1...no matter how wild the look, in short order I'm all for it. But as far as what I think are the best looking, there are two. British Racing Motor's BRM P261, and the Lotus 49 (before wings). Here are Stewart in the BRM and Clark with the Lotus.

I agree, the 4' odd high wings on rods looked just ridiculous.

I think the 1991 Jordan 191 Ford F1 in "exotic emerald" paint has got to be my favorite. I love how simple and elegant the lines are and the colors really help the car stand out.

This is such a beautiful race car....it looks like it's going 200 MPH just sitting there....the front that tapers to a point....all of it is just gorgeous.

Take a look at the vintage poster of the Olsonite Eagle constructed and driven by Dan Gurney in the late 60's and early 70's....I've had this poster on my walls for 50 years.
