Another help with DD thread..

Hi. I know of occasional "help me pick out a DD" and I've read much of all of them. But I need help from you guys as well for my specific needs..

Currently I DD my e90 m3 for a 60 mile work commute (30 miles each way).
More than the gas price, I don't like putting "useless" miles tho I do enjoy driving the M3 regardless. I just feel I should save the miles for something better.

So here are my needs..
- Gas saver (why not?)
- Good for occasional snow trip (I live in CA so I've never really driven in snow)
- Reliable (this is a beater/DD so the less headache, the better)
- Budget around and south of 15k

I've looked into
04-08 WRX, but I'm not sure how reliable they are. In the used market, a lot of them seemed to have been modded with 120k+ miles already on them.

DC - I had it before, it fit all my needs above, except snow trips. I never really took it out there but I think AWD is better for me since I'm not experienced with snow drives?

GTI - gas saving is just ok compared to M3, like WRX.. also reliability is questionable for VW (based on what I heard)

I want to add I don't want any audi.

If I haven't thought about any other good choice, please entice me.
Thanks!

We get the Scion not the GT-86.

And that is $10k over his budget.

It's the same thing with a different badge. The Scion FR-S and the GT-86 are essentially the same car give or take a few different trim levels/options.

Drats. Pricing is too high. 25k.

For $15k, good in snow, and good gas mileage? I'd look for an AWD hatch like a Toyota Matrix or a Suburu Impreza. If awd isn't important, I'd look at used Accords/TLs

E46 ZHP. Don't drive like an ass clown in the snow and you'll be fine.
