Is lane change assist a later feature and can you code it?

My x5 mc is a 21 with the driver assist pro, and the wife’s x5 m50 is a ‘22. Her car has lane change assist and mine doesn’t seem to. Is that something that can be step coded?

I would think you having an X5MC (F95) is no different than your wife’s X5 M50i (G05) with regard to Lane Change Assistant with Driver Assistant Professional

What are the build dates? Maybe that was a Covid supply chain affected option.

no, you may be thinking of the mirror lights that tell you there's something in your blind spot. lane change assist is a feature of the advanced cruise control you get, where you can make the car change lanes just by signaling.

i found a video describing how to turn this feature on/off in settings, but i don't have that option in mine. the software version it's showing is 03.2021 so i'm going to see if an update pops up...

IMHO, those are nothing but destructions; I turn all of them off.

I have them on all 3 of my M cars and use them very frequently. They are super helpful. Once you start using it you will understand.

Far from a gimmick. They actually work well.

ok, so two things (neither of which is surprising)

1. the dealer is an idiot.
2. r33_RGSport is awesome.

i still don't know if Lane Change Assist is something that was added to the Driver Assistance Pro package at a later date, or it wasn't enabled on my car for some other reason, but Ben coded it last night, and I tested it this morning and it worked entirely as expected. That means all the hardware is there, and it was just a setting that needed to be enabled.

I took it to the dealer to take care of a few things -- see if they could tell me why this was off, see if they could fix the rattle in my trunk, and see if they could upgrade my software to the latest version. They managed to only do that last one (for some reason car was on 3/2021 software, and OTA would've been one step at a time and painfully slow).

After 3 separate phone calls w/ the SA explaining to him which specific lane change option I was referring to, he sent me a document showing that it didn't become an option until 2023, with screenshots of ID8. Clearly not the case, esp since I've got my wife's '22 G05 sitting right next to mine where all that stuff is on, and then they said "you don't have that option."

Sigh. At least it's all sorted now!
