A friend brought his GTR to the drags last week, his is tuned up to 14 psi from stock 11 psi (if I remember correctly). He ran a couple 11.7s with a best trap of 119 I think. We have shitty humid weather too.

Today's 3.5s to 60 was last year's 4.5s to 60. If you all see what I mean. Standards have gone up so much.

It's crazy to think that ~5s to 60 is nothing to be surprised by anymore.

Very interesting link.
I was wondering when another manufacturer would take a truly stock GT-R around the Ring and see if it can duplicate the time Nissan claimed.
On a side note, this is what will most likely happen with the Acura TL SH-AWD car test the Acura did too when independent pro drivers take it to an independent track with independent timers against the same set of cars Acura recently did their "test" against.

I can see why Nissan will void powertrain warranties if that's used.

Personally though, they should not of made it possible if they aren't going to warranty it. Or at least make the launch control not quite as abusive so the car doesn't launch at such a high rpm (kind of like what Mitsu did with the EVO)
But it's all for bragging rights. Nissan wanted to brag about the ability of the GT-R to do 0-60 in 3.3 seconds and the 1/4 in 11.7 seconds, they just don't want people who paid $80-90K for their OWN cars to be able to do it.
Yes I know the car is $70K but nobody gets one for less than $80k anyway.

if you can afford a gtr warranty shouldnt be that much of a problem...

however the car is BEAUTIFUL and for 70k one of the fastest cars around

wait for the spec v at 125k, youll REALLY be impressed, itll be like 350z vs nismo 350z but better

you guys see that youtube video where the GTR lost to the z06 vette like 10 times in a row? that didnt look accurate to me lol i cant imagine this car losing to too many others
Unfortunately, Nissan has caught wind of the enthusiasm of buyers. As a result, the GT-R is now a $80k car. They bumped the MSRP up a bit.

Quote:
Well the GT-R isn't about to jump into half-million dollar territory anytime soon, but starting now Nissan's 911-fighter isn't quite the bargain it used to be. Automakers around the world are being squeezed by the weak dollar and rising raw material costs, and Nissan is no exception. So to compensate for dramatically more expensive steel and other components, the automaker is announcing an unusual interim price hike for all 2009 GT-Rs, bumping up the car's sticker a full $6990 for base models, and $7190 for Premium variants. Effective immediately, these new MSRPs don't apply to customer orders in dealer hands prior to September 5, but if you'd been waiting until Monday to choose between a GT-R and Aston Martin Vantage, unfortunately you're out of luck. An additional destination and handling charge of $1000 applies to both models as well.

The GT-R is one crazy car! I saw one in person for the first time yesterday morning. From far away I thought it was a Corvette or G35 at first. Then when I was about 50 yards or so away I realized it was GT-R. When the light turned green that thing was GONE!!! What a car!!

Wow I did not see that.
An $8-9K price increase only a couple months after release.
That's BS

I guess when I was offered one of the very first ones to come to So Cal many months ago (for MSRP) I should of taken it.
Yes, I have a close friend whose brother-in-law owns a Nissan dealership and he told me he'd sell 1 of his 6 GT-Rs that he ordered to me at MSRP if I put $20K down on it.
I procrastinated and never did it.
After being the second person to sit in the thing at the North American debut at the LA Auto show, I was a bit taken aback by how big the damn thing was and how cheap the interior was (the carpeting was like cheap astroturf).
The fact it wasn't exactly a good looking car turned me off too.
Had they made it the size of the 350Z (with looks as nice as the 350Z's) with the same power to weight ratio the GT-R currently has, I'd of been all over it.

Did you tell your friend after he launched it,, his warrenty was gone? No,, you didnt , that would have been very rude.

And why would Nissan taunt the buyer of a gt-r with launch control, if they say it voids your powertrain warrenty?

If this is the case, and Nissan does alot of voiding, I would be happy to see Nissan disovle as a company. They would desirve that.

Just like what BMW did to e46 M3 SMG launch mode...
Absolutely 100% false. SMG launch control cannot void anything in the U.S.

The GTR costs anywhere between $110 - 150K over here in dubai.

The dealer is selling it for $110K and the wait period is now over a year.

A lot of the GTRs have been snapped up by Used car dealers who are now selling them at a premium.

Saw a couple the other day - an imposing car but If I had the money, I wouldn't get one.

It is fast. The most impressive thing is how immediate and agressive the upshift is. Way stinger and faster than my Step.

The launch is insane

It g-teked 11.53 @121.5 with 0-60 @3.3 sec

I want one!
I agree with everything except the 3.3, it did not feel faster than the Z06 i drove which runs 3.8 and is faster, fit and finish were impressive

+1.
Next thing you see is people comparing 0-100 mph times since 0-60 will be out-dated and even too quick to measure.
