mdecoder is a website that you enter your VIN to check the factory order options. To make sure you haven't modified the FA in anyway.

BMW use one of the following codes to block lane change assist on a G20- 8TR, 8TU or 8LS AND you must have 5AU, so you meet that criteria

However, on the G20 only, you need to have a build date of equal to or later than 07/20 which you don't have (11/18).

I don't recommend changing the build date for this coding, so your best bet is to buy esysx and FDL code the required changes in SAS, BDC and HU_MGU. If you want to go this route I'll post the exact codes you will need.

Thanks for your help and advice, something I need to think about as not sure it's worth spending around £75 for lane change assist

Made all stuff like OP. Yes. Now I can check Lane Assist change, but I hadn`t noticed any car behavior changes. Lane control just turnes off, no assist. Perhabs, that`s why I have 8LR(sure) and 8LK(not sure) in FA? Any suggestions?

I think I have excalty the same issue with my G21 330e.
I coded my car yesterday and I do have the option in the idrive but as soon as I hit the indicator, the green lines of the lane assist go grey and thats it.
No issues with the coding and all was green...
Anyone ideas?

All works

DRuw , It works fine for me now. It's needs strong conditions to work, most important, in my opinion, are speed not less 70km/h and hard separation of the traffic streams(e.g. wall or bumper). In case of separation with grass lane less 5m approximately it'll not work.

just a feedback, I tried it on a different road with a hard barrier and it works
Still need to get used to the driving systems and don't like all of them but on a long drive on a highway, this will be activated

Hi there all you coding gurus
Would it be possible to enable aSLA in an Australian SPEC X5 with a build level of 07/19 by changing the FA country code from 810 (Australia) to 812 (UK) where aSLA was standard at that time and VO code the 4 ECU's in question. The current I step is 03/21.

The land masks will still have to be FDL coded to FF,FF,FF,FF to make it work here. I think i can still access the land mask FDL's in SAS3 & VIP using Launcher Pro as EsysX is still not available for sale

In SAS (42C1) change C_SWA_Auspraegung to Nr001_Variante_USA

Removes the eu specific lane change delay rules.

Thanks ifr. Worked perfectly fine and straight forward!

Could be that something else is now missing from the i-drive menu, now that SAS3 was default-coded now, but I will find out

No idea if ENGSTELLENASSISTANT ever worked anyway. Maybe UCC is gone now. Could be. Need to re-code.

Note: the FA will not be saved to the car, which mitigates some risk of dealer warranty issues. The trade off is that the process will need to be repeated after each i-step upgrade that modifies HU_MGU, SAS and/or BDC.

Pre-reqs
- Windows PC - I use Windows 10 x64 VM on macOS VMware Fusion
- OBD-II to Ethernet cable
- E-Sys 3.27.1 or later - I use 3.36.2
- psdzdata - currently at 03/2021.57. You need a version that supports at least the same or newer than your car's i-step version.

Coding Steps for auto Lane Change Assistant (SWA)
  1. Connect OBD2 cable to car
  2. Start E-Sys
  3. Start Car Diagnostic Mode (3 quick presses of the ignition button). Diag mode is preferred, but you need to be aware of your battery health and level of charge. Ideally connect a battery charger or voltage regulator.
  4. Plug OBD2 cable into Ethernet Port and wait a few seconds
  5. Switch to Expert Mode-Coding in E-sys
  6. Click on the Connect Icon
  7. Target Selector: choose the i-step that most closely matches your car version e.g. S18A_21_03_557. Under Interface, select 'Connection by VIN' If your VIN is not listed you have an issue. Usually wait longer, or check the PC network card is set to use TCP/IP 4 DHCP (not static), or cable not working, etc. Do not select *_DIRECT
  8. Hit Connect button
  9. Under 'Vehicle Order' click on Read
  10. Under 'Vehicle Order' right-click on FA and choose Activate FA if required
  11. Under 'SVT Actual', click on Read (ECU)
If it's the first time you have coded, right-click on ECU under the SVT tree and choose 'Read Coding Data'. Use Windows File Explorer to backup your CAF directory which by default is C:\Data\CAF
  12. Save your FA and SVT
  13. Under Editors and Viewers - select ‘FA Editor’ and load your saved FA
  14. Click on SALAPA-Element find and remove 8TR from the list. Click on Apply Changes
  15. Click on File-Save As Give it a name such as FA_032021557_no8TR
  16. Switch back to Expert Mode-Coding Load the FA you just created with no 8TR and do Read (ECU) again.
  17. Select the following 3 ECU’s in the SVT pane. Note these may vary by model:
    1. BDC_BODY\CAFD_*7083*
    2. HU_MGU\CAFD_*3E52*
    3. SAS3\CAFD_*42C1*
  18. With the 3 x ECU selected, click on Code (not Code Default Values)
  19. Check the report is Green for all 3 ECU. Warnings are OK, but the text should be Green
  20. Done!! Go into i-drive Car-Settings-Driver Assistance-Steering Assistant and make sure ‘Lane Change Assistant’ is ticked

Enjoy!

If you find the lane changes are slower than you would like, almost hesitant, then there is a fix for that, but it requires FDL coding and is not covered here.
Always amazed by the coding stuff you find! Kudos!

I have a bmw g11 from 2016, and I can't get this to work, I can't find any codes in the SAS3, C_SWA_xxx, there is nothing related to SWA, anywhere, could you please tell me what I need to code or how to proceed? Thank you!

Hey, I tried to send you a PM, however looks like you disabled that, I wanted to ask if you were open to helping me poke around with some code, perhaps you can send me a message with a way to contact you if you're interested? I feel like I shouldn't state the obvious, but I'm not looking for any freebies and would compensate for your time and knowledge accordingly.

I attempted to do this today. I have a 2018 F90 so I used S15A. I went through and removed 8TR. Loaded my file and coded all the CAFD in the following categories: BDC Body2, HU_NBT2 & SAS2.

Everything showed up green after coding, but I do not have the lane change option in my iDrive.

What am I doing wrong?

This VO coding is for the pre LCI G05 X5 with iDrive 7 (HU MGU) not the NBT2 Evo which is iDrive 5/6.
The 2 other ECUs are BDC BODY3 and SAS3 not 2. I suggest you try and FDL code it using my cheat sheet as others have suggested. Do you have 5AU (DAP) listed in your FA?. This is a prerequisite for LCA to work.

IFR is no longer active on this Forum as he sold his X5 and bought another brand

E-Sys download

Sorry for drifting off topic, I'm searching for a download link for E-Sys 3.36 as I've read multiple places it's best option to use, but been unable to track down a link for a download

Anyone here able to send me a link?
