I've had this nuisance of a sound from the second month.. and it's gotten even worse nowadays. Doesn't seem that there is a long term solution as of now

There’s many posts talking about the isweep brakes and their effectiveness.

EBC Reds as well. I tried both on my X5M.
isweep is2000 is completely silent all the time and i'd say 50% less dust than oem pads EBC Reds would occasionally make a squeal for a split second time to time but you only hear it if you have your windows open and you are looking for it. Non issue imo. I think these dust slightly less than isweep is2000 and maybe more in line with is1500. Brake feel is very similar in both pads.

I’m running the is2000 and like the bite compared to the oem. It still has minimal dust but I can live with it. Those oem pads were rough! These were after less than 200 miles and taken at my installer right before the iSweeps went in.

I have 25k miles on my '23. Only had this issue once or twice for a few days, but I try to get some hard braking in often and I do run it through a tunnel wash once a week.
OEM pads, so not sure why it hasn't come back but might be worth trying! |

Brakes will make a bit of noise when the surfaces are not perfectly aligned, but it should be a rare occasion, not an every day/every minute experience For what it's worth, I own a Porsche 718 Cayman GTS 4.0, and the brakes are silent whether I am on the street or on a track. What about looking at this "brake squealing" from a different perspective?
Our big M brakes are extraordinary engines, by far the most powerful on board: on demand, they may instantaneously deliver a very high torque at each wheel - they are incredibly compact engines, considering that they are rated up to 1500 hp for a few seconds. Of all the design compromises that such an high power engine may require, the one of ensuring that each of the front three piston pairs will have exactly the same pressure on the pads when the brakes are just "caressed" - that's when they squeal - is a low priority one: it means that one of the pads may just be barely touching the rotor and may so start a mechanical vibration similar to when you caress the rim of a crystal glass cup with a wet finger... both the cup and the rotor will start singing like a diapason. A while ago my wife started complaining that her 435xd Grand Coupe would start squealing when braking lightly. I told her to play with it and try to brake so as to increase the squealing. For a while she actually had fun at it, then got bored and forgot, problem solved. Let your 1500 hp monsters sing their tunes from time to time... I'd say they even earned it! |

However, if it's a known issue, BMW should consider changing the brake supplier. |

Has it been happening every time you drive since then? For us, it's not happening all the time. We didn't hear a sound at all today.

Interesting point. The sound is not unbearable nowadays, and it comes and goes. We'll just leave the brakes as they are for now. Thanks for sharing. |

I think the Porsche video posted above helped explain it, the sounds does come and go and it seems to align with what they were saying, since I did notice when it was wet from rain, it would do it a lot more often

I took it to the dealer and asked them to check it - the car already has a brake recall so i'm hoping they clean it while doing the necessary service.

The replacement process is very easy for DIY and takes about 30 min for a qualified shop to do. Some people find the sound tolerable; I personally, being a mechanical engineer with OCD, could not tolerate it |
