Did I miss something or did they change the brake pads post Sept?

Or did they change the pads in general for the e90? I did a search on 'brake dust' and there were people complaining of brake dust. But I just now noticed, I haven't washed my car for 3 weeks and there's not a hint of brake dust on my wheels. No special wax, nothing. They're a little dirty, but not like I'm used to with German cars. Or like my other BMWs.

Can't confirm or deny, its winter now and my mags get salt, grime, slush dirt on them I couldn't tell the difference. But in another forum (tires/wheels) someone complained that mags which fit 330 pre Sept. no longer fit the 330 and the speculation is the brake calipers may have been altered slightly - so the pad change conspiracy theory may have merit

I was just thinking this morning how relatively clean my wheels are given I haven't washed them in a couple of weeks. I thought it might be that my winter wheels are much more "open" than the 162s, but the brake pad theory holds water, IMO.

Same here... even a 10 minute drive with only a few stops puts a thin dust film on the wheels.

My car was built in October.

i guess it depends how hard you brake. i have a little dirt on my wheels but nothing major like my E36 gets after a few days of driving.

You had BMWs previously?

I've got a post sept car; 3 wks without washing, just a thin layer of dust. My e46s and my Audis, two days after washing they'd be coated. If I let the car go two weeks without washing my front wheels would be BLACK.

This is sort of a nice development. Especially since they're low dust, stop really well and aren't noisy. Normally if you switch to aftermarket pads that don't dust as much you have to trade something, noise, stopping power, etc.

part wasnt changed on E90, but onlly the E90 use these pads and they are a lot more expensive than E46 pads.

i also havent really noticed a E90 on the road with VERY dirty wheels, like you do E46, so maybe they have improved the pad design

Probably a more logical explanation than pads changing.

My E91 generates plenty of brake dust! I don't think there is a difference.
