Sport exhaust on 50e

Hello,

Is there any technical issue with having a sport exhaust on a 50e or BMW doesn't allow you to order one to keep 50e image as an environment friendly car? Is there any way to work with a dealer to get something like this approved?

Thanks

On the UK configurator if you add the M-Sport Pro pack one of the items included is the M Sport Exhaust System…

>>>> M Sport Package Pro: M Sport Exhaust System, M Lights Shadowline, M Sport Brakes with Red Calipers and M Sport Seat Belts

Thanks. Is this specifically for 50e? In the US you can get sport exhaust for 40i, but not for 50e. At least, this is not part of the M sport professional package.

I was wondering the same thing. It would be great to have the quiet electric mode contrasted with the sport exhaust occasionally. Not an option on the US build but if it's available internationally is this something that a US dealer could configure after delivery?

Yes, this is for the 50e M-Sport. In the UK if you order the M-Sport Pro pack on a diesel you actually get an external sound generator to create a fake exhaust sound. On a petrol it is actually a different exhaust system I believe. Not sure which the 50e gets but you do get a sport exhaust!

Thank you! At least we know that there should not be a technical issue with getting a sport exhaust on 50e. The rest is just BMW NA policy...

If anybody knows how to make it happen to get the sport exhaust on 50e in the US, please share.

Thanks!

That is interesting as this is not the case on the German Configurator. Is there really an M-Exhaust that is not fitted to German models but will be fitted to UK models?!

When I ordered my 50e in the uk in February, there was a note at the bottom of the M Sport Professional package stating that the M sport exhaust was excluded on the 50e, no need to worry, you’re not missing out.

What do the 50e’s sound like? Do they have a sporty tone with the M sport package or are they restricted/refined?

I’m planning on removing the resonator, maybe some quad tips if I can find some fit nicely, and pulling the fuse for the exhaust flaps to stay open. i’ll post video when I get it done..

Seems like Belgians seem to be exhaust modificators I found this video, which has a valved exhaust, and sounds more OEM then the video above imo

now only the mid damper is gone because there is no downpipe available yet but you can always put your mid damper back.
have placed the spoiler, Diffuser, side grilles, front lips, mirror caps, steering wheel of m performance.

https://www.shopbmwusa.com/product/8...EXHAUST-SYSTEM (PN 18302458780) the M Performance exhaust for B58 is compatible with the 50e, others have done it. I'm on the fence because I quite honestly like how quiet the car is... something about the ICE kicking in just to augment in hybrid mode with all of the cold start sounds doesn't seem right to me

where did you do it (I am from Belgium too)?

Have you also used the opf delete kit so no errors are shown ?

Think I’m going to ask my dealer what they think about it guarantee wise. No software is changed using the OPF delete kit.

Are there any forum members who have pulled the trigger on some sort of cat back w/ valve exhaust system on their X5 50e that could share their experience?

Why does anyone do any single modification or change to their cars from the factory? Because they want to idk lol

All though the 50e is a plug in hybrid its still a very sporty and quick car. My wife drives the car into work 5 days a week on pure electric mode. When i take the car out or we drive around together we put it in sport mode when were feeling froggy lol... its fun. We both have had trucks for the past 13 years and finally got rid of hers. I had a couple muscle cars growing up with 600+rwhp and miss that feeling of a fast car and their sound.

The idea of having a little more throaty sound with a click of a button when feeling froggy would be fun and would still sound stock all other times.
