I probably can beat most people when it comes to X5 bugs, glitches and teething problems..
One day after receiving my brand new GO5 50i I got a coolant warning. I called road assist, which called UK Road service. That would be great if I didn't live in Dubai. Had to end up calling the 800 BMW number who sent a technician straight out who informed me the car needed to be looked at in the workshop. To be fair to them, I did receive a 2019 M4 as a courtesy car. Car back this morning (48-hour turn around), but it seems they did not even wipe down the coolant spots in the engine. Made a complaint to customer service, wiped the engine bay carefully myself, and will have to check the engine for any further coolant spots in the coming days. Further, the roadside assistance is still calling the UK, and I have now been told there is issues in Germany with the servers which should be fixed in the next 2 days. Not an ideal introduction to BMW, especially after driving Range Rovers over the last few years. |

My biggest issue is CarPlay and Bluetooth connectivity (works about 40% of the time without manually connecting after turning my phone's WiFi and Bluetooth on and off). It also randomly forgets my settings even when it greets me with my name, so my profile is there, but my side mirrors, ambient lighting and door unlock settings go away.
I also have a back vent that only blows heat, no A/C (a problem in FL but we don't use the backseat much and I just have to take it in). Also the destinations I send through connected rarely show up. Still, I absolutely love the car and expected glitches. The Apple pay issue stopped with 12.2 for me. I am still running 11-2018.

CarPlay has never worked well in any vehicle I have owned.

Is the window lock on? I read in X7 forums that if window lock is on, the 2nd row power seats don't work.

Ouch, the unusually short life cycle of the F15 seem to have stressed the G05’s development cycle over the limit. Three of my 9 new BMWs were among the first produced, they each had one warranty issue, only one was major. As a 30+ year BMW owner I’ve never seen anything like this. Guess I hold on to our Cayenne another 2 years or so before choosing between another Cayenne or a G05... I just arrived in Whistler after a 6h drive and marveled over how great of a road trip car our 2013 Cayenne is, that said I really like the look, specifications and to be honest price/value of the X5 and had hoped to jump ship but the list and number of cars with issues here make me cautious at this point in time.

My normal mode is to wait until the 2nd or even 3rd year, but I wanted the G05 badly enough to not wait. My issues are so minor. Its been a really great cars so far. No regrets at all. |

This thread is disturbing and I hope folks from BMWNA and the assembly plant in SC are reading it.

Nothing unusual and will probably be more common in the coming years as vehicles become more and more tech laden. On a new platform and motor you will find a great deal of issues in the first year and nothing out of the ordinary from what most early adopters faced in previous generation debuts or on other Marques with a new vehicle. This thread wasn't meant to scare people out of buying but simply consolidate all the info into one thread so we can determine if some issues were one-off or common.

It should
It should scare people out of buying absolutely. My first 2019 X5 delivered in December immediately had the driving mode buttons / gear shift area electronics fail. BMW did not even have a part number for that yet so they built me a new one. I took delivery of it in February and ANYTHING to do with connecting it to a phone is unworkable. Multiple updates, many of the cars computers replaced including the head unit. They are taking this one back too and when they do I am done. This is far and beyond normal "glitches". Let's not be fan boys but rather call it what it is..... not ready to be sold.

Do you believe it was rushed to market or using the early adopters as real world beta testers?

I suppose they are one in the same. Pretty expensive endeavor having hundreds of techs pulling their hair out trying to fix these things. They will tell you candidly they are about at their wits end in the shop. Very frustrated customers with issues that they simply can't seem to fix. The next time I take mine in and they are unable to fix it then it will be a lemon. They voluntarily took the first one back due to no solution available. I don't know if they are going to offer me my money back on this one or if I will have to go under the state lemon law. In either case it's incredibly expensive for them as well as a brand quality nightmare. I just want a vehicle that has features that work most of the time. This is not it.

Dealers are all independent in the US, its the law but you would think the company, BMW, would stand behind its customers who have made them what they are. Without customers, they would be out of business. 39 years of BMW ownership and I am now changing my mind. |

I was asking opinion not stating that it was okay or acceptable.
