2019 X5 air conditioner

Just purchased a new 2019 X5 and noticed that the air conditioner is not cooling like it should, anyone else have air conditioning issues?

Sounds like you may not have your air temperature set correctly for the vents. Once set, it will freeze you out in no time. Here is a thread where it is discussed.

^ This. I adjusted mine vent mix to cold and can attest that the air conditioner is anything but anemic.

+1 my ac is arctic cold. Probably the coldest I've ever had in a bmw or any car.

It should be nice and cool, I measured mine at 7.6C ~45.68F which is great for hot days! This is while the AC was set to low i.e 60F cabin temp

Make sure your AC is on.
I actually didn't know until after a week that your center "fan screen" has to show "AC" in the middle when the AC is on. You can turn it on by pressing down (up is for menu, down is for AC) on the "MENU / AC" button.

I've purchased 26 new vehicles (I'm old) and this A/C (properly set) is the best.

Do you have to slide it manually all the way to red in the winter to get heat?

No, but it won't blow nearly as hot from the top vents if you don't

Thanks. Sounds like I do then. I don’t recall this being a requirement in any previous car I’ve owned. Doesn’t the X7 have a touch display dedicated to this control? I believe I saw this in a video review of it somewhere.

That is in the new 7 series. I really would have liked for this setting to not be buried in the settings the way it is but it is not a big deal.

Yeah I did watch a video of that too. Maybe future X5s will have that. It sure would be better that the buried version we have.

If you have a blank button for the pre-sets you can set it to the screen to allow for adjusting.

I have many but attempting to save anything but radio stations results in an “unable to save” message.

You have to go up one menu item to get it to save. You then have an extra click to do to get to the setting which is not ideal but better than going through the entire menu to get there.

Thanks. I thought I tried back one level as well but I’ll try again. I’ve tried saving many functions to those buttons and always get that message. It’s poorly implemented like much of idrive.

Maybe it was 2 levels back... I set it up pretty early on after getting the car so i am not sure at the moment. I tried to set the shortcut directly on the vent temp setting/button, and when it did not work, I just went up one level, tried to save again. And if that did not work, went one level higher. I can double check this evening and let you know.
