Well the US market tends to like their stuff sorted into packages, so it will take them a bit of time to decide what goes with which package. The Europeans make just about everything an individual option.

We had to turn in our VW diesel last year and wanted to replace it with their GTi. I started looking to build a 2018 GTi online back in October 2017. However, the VW site didn't offer it. I called our dealer, they said to wait, the 2018 should be online shortly. I went to the UK and German VW sites and saw the GTi was already online and I could build one. I contacted VW and inquired, they just said they didn't know when it would be on line in the US and just wait.
Ok, but I had to turn our diesel in, in 2018 so I couldn't wait too long. January came, no 2018 on line yet but other VW models were. February came, same thing, March came and finally toward the end of March, the US site had it.

It’ll be up in September... but it will be missing stuff and not work right. It’s like they let the interns build the website. It’s pathetic.

it'll be out after the M8/8 Series GC which aren't up in the US either. We generally don't see them until the month of launch
