Acoustic glass (Canada)

I have not seen any acoustic glass offering in Canada. Does this mean all X5s come with it or it’s entirely unavailable for us? I hope it’s a first option.

Not available.

When I enquired about it I was told that the Canadian cars use thicker glass due to something being different between Canada and the US and thus the difference between the acoustic side glass and the normal Canadian glass was not really noticeable although there was a small difference.

It's probably in the same catalog as the spare tire.

With respect - Did the "teller" provide you with part numbers to back this up with? Special glass just for Canada? Goldilocks glass, not too accoustic but not too thin....
Sounds more like BMW Canada just decided they didn't want to commit to Accoustic glass allocations to cover their margin/market.
The same applies to xDrive. BMW Canada will only market xDrive units if an xDrive variant exists. No sDrive models. They don't want to commit to allocations of sDrive because they don't feel they will sell. No commit, no quota. The big boys in Richmond Hill get paid on these "bets" and the motherland doesn't like mistakes....

I would be very surprised to find a fact that shows the Canadian Goldilocks glass exists. Its just not BMW Canada's mo.

Nope. I was not provided with anything more than what I mentioned in my post. I had told my salesman that I wanted to pay to order the acoustic glass if possible because I saw that it was an option in the US but not in Canada. Basically asking them to take my money!!!!!, and when he enquired with bmw canada about getting it, that is what they told him.

I never looked into this any deeper than that. I would not be surprised if it was simply untrue. I do not see anything to back up their claim looking on realoem just now. I honeslty would be ok with them just saying they thought the normal glass was good enough and chose not to make acoustic glass available, instead of throwing BS my way to excuse the lack of the option.

Still, the car is very quiet even without it.

No need to be nice. I am not the one saying that they actually had different specs for the glass here as opposed to the US. That is what I was told by them when I wanted to buy it.
