Anyone know why on a cold start only one exhaust (drivers side) produces heat??

Dealer told me it's normal until you hit a certain speed and then both exhausts are activated. Hard to believe.

Even though it’s from the 4post forums, it’ll explain the flaps pretty well

Thanks for asking this question since I have noticed this a few times and had wondered about it too!

You are referring to the 40i? Both inner exhaust pipes on the 50i are active on cold starts then all 4 open up after warm up. I did this video on a cold start up at about 30 degrees out and you can see the order on how they system opens up as it gets warmer. Pretty cool way of heating up the exhaust system.

When the idle drops down you can see all 4 pipes snorting when I pop the throttle. The forum brought this to my attention and I had to make a video.

Just food for thought Resonator delete – cutouts to replace the resonators – I think these cutouts are just after the downpipes, around mid-exhaust area. Makes the exhaust sound great.

Here’s a vid off start up
