Squeaky Brakes

It’s been -10 degrees Celsius here in Vancouver lately and we just saw a night of snow last night.

The ABS system stopped my car from rear ending the car in front of me at a red light, twice.

When I first drove my car this morning, there was major squeaking. This is normal as there’s probably rust on my rotors from the ice/rust buildup from driving last night. However, after about 2 hours of driving in the city, the squeaking still persists. I was under the impression that it will go away with heat. I’ve done hard braking from 40-0 as well with some improvements. It only squeaks a little now as I’m nearing a complete stop.

Do you think the sound will go away as the temperature rises back up? This shouldn’t have been caused by triggering the ABS right? Or should I make an appointment with my dealer?

Based on mileage, your pads/rotors should have plenty of life left, of course, I do not know your driving habits, but should not be squeaking yet. My 2021 has 24,000 miles on original pads/rotors and they squeal, but I do a lot of stop and go with them so the wear is higher than average.

The squeaking seems to be better now that the average temperature has risen to -5 degrees Celsius. In two days, it rises above freezing temps, so I'm hoping it'll just naturally go away.
