Cloud computing (in theory and practice) is very interesting. I am reading a book right now that takes it to a whole different level, philosophically. If what you say comes to pass, then we will have a fully comprehensive biological infrastructure of every possible physiological action and drive.

I'd say at that point, reason and free will become factors of subjectivity, given the intrusions and power placed in the hands of the controlling authority.

THAT is precisely what I was driving at/wondering about. At what speed and ubiquity does the combination of knowledge (storage) and reason (computation) erase the distinction completely and make will, basically, obsolete. When Aristotle said that Good is but doing the rational, could this be that in a way? That architects of the app (the computational logic) becomes God? His will becomes the collective human will? Morality becomes being bug-free and executing the program properly? Hehe. Weird. Not that I think this would happen in a pure form, but some aspect of it will and, in some ways, has. When we add a word to the dictionary, we are canonizing collective will and making convention into law. Accelerate this by orders of magnitude and apply to more than definitions of words and you are starting to get it. Google has a similar effect - the masses determine what is Right. Now, look at the collective wisdom of the masses and decide whether you think this is good or bad.
