When Can We Start Ordering 2022 Models

Hello, complete newbie here, thinking about ordering my first BMW. Excited to join the community. I have ordered Range Rovers and Mercedes in the past, so I am assuming the process will be similar but just have couple questions. When will we be able to start ordering 2022 models (for a X6 M50i if that makes a difference) and when will they start delivery on the 2022 models? Given it is a mid cycle year I am assuming no significant changes, what kind of deal can I expect on a 2022 custom order unit? Is invoice price possible?

Thank you for your help!

MY22 G05:

- ordering and pricing guide may be released sometime next month
- production slots open up in July for late August production, delivery of September delivery

Invoice is appropriately 7-8% off MSRP, deals regional and supply dependent. Some members will shop or order from out of state.

BMW Performance Center Delivery is an option if you're on the East Coast or don't mind a road trip.

Production of MY22 should begin in August. Depending on when the dealers get allocations you may be able to order in June but likely July.

Unfortunately if the supply chain issues continue we will likely see even lower discounts so invoice, while doable, may require some shopping around.

Thank you guys! This is really helpful. The wait will be killing me, but seems it is so close to the new model year that it is better to wait for the next MY.

7-8% off MSRP may not be too bad for new order, do you know if this differs by model? Specifically I am trying to order x45e. Right now I only hear from one local dealer that they will only take $1000 off MSRP, though I have not tried haggling. I was also told there's only 2% off for custom ordering 2021 45e right now, since it's somehow highly sought after. I live in north California if that makes a difference.

I am really struggling on a 2021 vs. 2022 order. Right now, incentives are average for the 2021 model, and discounts are in the 5-8% range based on the current environment.

What I am trying to figure out is if I wait for a 2022 model, will incentives, MF, residuals etc. all get way worse? I wish I knew what enhancements will be included in the 2022 model (I am reading about the new interior screen setup for example).

^ There won’t be any major changes, like the screens, until the LCI which should be in MY23.

Current residuals are horrible and incentives are nothing to be excited about but MF have been at an all time low during the pandemic - currently 0.00093.

During MY switchover, incentives for prior year model usually increase to reduce any existing inventory but what I've seen there isn't a lot of MY21 inventory sitting on dealer lots.

MF could stay the same or increase for MY22 but I don't see residuals improving but who knows.

How confident are you that they won't be until MY23?

Not sure if ynguldyn 's information has ever been wrong but of course things change. Actually it likely will be an early MY24 rather than a MY23. The LCI is currently schedule to begin 4/23.

LifeCycle Impulse. Odd name, but it just means a midcycle refresh.

Any recommendation of dealers to place the order? In south Florida but don't mind ordering from another state?

I will be waiting for MY22 as well since I decided to go with the 40i instead of the M50i as I had originally planned. I'm hopeful that some of the features (at least HK!) will be available again.

Another complete newbie here. How does one know '22 orders are open? Should I keep checking what's available on bmwusa.com or do dealers get a sneak peak and start ordering before things become available online?

If, and that is a big if given the current situation, things go as they have been, the MY22 ordering guides should be out within a few weeks. Then the dealers, and us here on the forum, should know what the pricing and options will be for MY22. Dealers should then get allocations in the June/July timeframe and the ordering process can begin then. The online configurator likely won't get updated until August/September.

I have Placed my Order for 2022 X6 40i

I placed it on Saturday but allocation is still pending. Dealer advised 8-10 weeks. Which will put it right before my 60th birthday. MSRP was about 1500 More than previous from what i could see. Will see what changes once i get it.

Actually it looks like to get to the exact same build, the 2021 model is only $50 less than your 2022 build. The MSport line in 2022 in your spec is $700 less than the 2021 MSport line ($3,450 vs. $4,150), but to get to the same features as your prem pkg + climate pkg in a 2021 model, it also costs $750 less (2021 prem pkg at $1k + heated front & steering wheel at $250 + rear seat heating at $350), hence the $50 diff.

So you are getting all the stuff you want without really paying more but also in a new model year. Congrats!
