X5 M50i ordered in Lime Rock Grey

My wife is finally coming in to the fold. Now, my M5C won't look as lonely in the garage.

Still waiting to get confirmation on the color request (Nardo is her #2). She prefers lighter colors, doesn't want to stand out too much (good luck, right?), but also doesn't want to put yet another white X5 out into the world.

A few of the details:
22" 742 in bi-color
Tartufo extended Merino
CF trim
Dynamic Handling Pkg (absolute must!)
Parking Assist
Heated everything / massage seats
Extended shadowline trim

I'll certainly send updates and pics as things develop.

Congratulations, hopefully the wait isn't too bad.

10 weeks and nothing... Curious what others think about this timeline. It took 3 weeks for BMW to confirm our build as we had spec'd it. We're now 7 weeks past that date and the car is still only "scheduled for production". I know the site is often late on updates, but if they still haven't begun the build this seems substandard for BMW. Are there known parts shortages?

I was interested in ordering my 45e in Lime Rock, but my dealership advised me it would likely take 3 months for an individual paint option. Because of that I went with Mineral White. They just received a 40i in Nardo Gray that was ordered with a February allocation. Based on that, your wait doesn't seem out of the ordinary.

Do you have an assigned production week number yet? You can call BMW Genius, speak to a real representative and get the info.

is lime rock grey an Individual color? if so, this timeline is normal. there's a thread about Individual paint. I remember reading it adds ~11+ weeks to the overall build.

10 weeks and nothing??? Oh man, the individual painting is the reason for your delay?

I wonder about the timeline of usual scenario for M50i without individual painting, just my dealer said it usually took 6 weeks but now I start to worry about my car's timeline (I ordered M50i at the end of April with mineral while color)

Placed the order for my M50i in Dravit Grey on 3/24; BMW confirmed on 4/2 (Production # assigned); Moved to "Scheduled for Production" on 4/8, and to "Production Begins" on 5/3 (VIN # assigned). Last estimate from BMW Genius was a 5/17 completion date...if that holds true, will be ~8 weeks from placing order to finishing the build. Hope to nail down the PCD date this coming week...

(BTW - My dealer had a Lime Rock Grey M50i on the lot that I got to bring home for a few days to test drive; great color that got a lot of attention....congrats!)

Thanks, everyone. Yes, the limerock is an individual color. I guess BMW's ears were burning because the VIN was assigned this morning (finally)! From what I understand of the process, I'm hoping it's all bolted together in the next three weeks. I'll still reach out to a genius for an estimated date, which should be fairly accurate now.

If your timing is like mine should be around the end of next week. I got my VIN a week ago today and it says estimated production date is 5/15. This happens to fall on a Saturday so not sure if they build cars or not on weekends....

The key here is they ordered an individual paint color. Those take more time than standard paint codes.

I had Dravit like you did and mine was about 5 weeks from order to delivery. It would have been 4 had the carrier assignment not been messed up from the storms in the south.

Update: no progress was reported until May 23, when it went from scheduled to awaiting carrier assignment. The whole build process went unreported. It was dispatched today and may arrive by the end of the week. Pictures soon!

How does one track an order? I just placed mine in December.

Any pictures BTW?

You'll need to create an account on https://mygarage.bmwusa.com/ and navigate to "my garage". From there, you'll need to add your car with either a VIN number or production number. Once added, you can track the status of your build.
