Same deal here. I got a HEA car because i got sick of waiting for my M50i but looks like the timing will come out to about same. If I had to wait till July/August i might as well waited for either better deals or a 2021 build.

Now i'm wondering if i elect to keep the car with me and not leave it at the dealership it shouldn't forfeit my option for bmw buy back right? Even though i have the car its still not fixed for 30 days.

First time poster, 6 month lurker. Same thing happened to me. New x5M50i, two months after I picked it up a/c blows hot air. Compressor is dead. Part is now on back order until at least July. Dealer is trying to take care of me but bottom line is IÂ’m out of my new special order ride until at least July. Is anybody concerned that replacing the compressor could lead to long term issues with the car or selling the car down the road?

According to realoem the G05 X5 40i has a different part number for the AC Compressor. Basically all of bmw's N63 variant engines uses one compressor and the B58 uses another which is why it seems to only affect the V8 guys. Both compressors are made by "RP" which i've never heard of.

BMW 6 cylinder AC Compressor - Part #64529890655 or 64529890656
https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/sho...diagId=64_2449

BMW 8 cylinder AC Compressor - Part #64526822848
https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/sho...diagId=64_2171

I've dug around all over the place and every dealer is saying the same thing about the V8 AC compressors being on back order and there are ZERO for sale in the US or Europe. ETA mid July....

They just drove mine to the dealership and left me with a 2020 X5, V6. Fine loaner for a few days. Finger crossed for a quick software fix. If they tell me two months to fix it....cross that bridge when we get there
Dealer must had swapped in a Toyota V6 instead of the usual BMW I6

Just got back from the dealer and spoke to the shop foreman himself. Just as I predicted its the AC compressor and its on back order. They are going to replace that plus the condenser and some other part because BMW is saying that metal shavings from the failed compressor could have made its way to those parts when it failed. I didn't leave my car there so they will contact me whenever the part shows up but atleast now I am officially in the system waiting for the parts....

I'm waiting for AC parts too, but the dealer hasn't mentioned anything about metal shavings.

I would just call and confirm what parts were ordered for your car. The foreman said they have a special bulletin about this posted for the techs regarding this AC issue and they were directed to replace the compressor and I believe it was two other parts as per bmw.

Another bit of info that i got from the foreman is that he thinks all of this should be a straight forward swap that he could do under the car. Shouldn't require removal of bumpers etc...

I have 356 miles on a brand new X6M-c. A/C stopped working after 2 days. Been at dealership for over a week and they HAVE NO IDEA when the parts will be available...been told it could be upwards of 2-3 months.

2-3 months and bmw is going to be looking at hundreds of very expensive buy backs. This will end up costing them a lot of money if they don’t rectify the issue ASAP.

In NY if the car is out of service for more than 30 days for the same issue it will classify as a lemon and that will go on title of the car severely impacting its value.

BMW better be stepping it up ASAP

What if you choose to not take the loaner and only bring your car in when you get the dealer gets the part, can it still be lemoned?

As far as i'm concerned the car isn't operational and that its sitting home or dealership lot shouldn't make a difference.

I would check with a Lemon Law attorney on that point.

There are many lemon law attorneys. I suggest you do a google search. I have never used one so can't personally make a recommendation but perhaps others on this forum have experience with them.

I just hope BMW is not putting these defective compressors in the cars being built now and in the upcoming ones for 21.

Sorry to all the current F95 X5M owners with the air conditioning issues.

My X5MC just got done being built, and it's waiting to be transported from the factory. I'll be pissed if my air conditioning doesn't work!

AwesomeM3 - I can’t wait to see your car. My status finally changed today from “scheduled for production” to “production begins” and I was assigned a VIN. Very happy to see that, but have been watching this thread from Alan very closely and wondering the same thing as you. I can’t imagine that they would knowingly continue to build cars with faulty compressors...right?

Congratulations on your VIN and the start of production. It shouldn't be too much longer. Mine took about two weeks to complete but it was stuck in "Production Begins" for a few days. Then it went through four or five stages in one day.

I'm hoping the factory is aware of the faulty compressors, but if the replacements are on backorder, they are probably using the compressors they have in inventory.

Yea, that’s definitely my concern...I’d prefer they delay production on my vehicle another month rather than plow forward with a papier-mâché compressor.

We’ll see. If yours holds up over the coming weeks, than I’ll feel much better about it.

I'll post an update once I get my X5M.
