Meeses chewing through anything left outdoors is a price we pay for living in the woods. I'm truly amazed that they haven't chewed through the propane line in our BBQ grill yet, since that would surely be loud when the tank rapidly depressurized and launched one into orbit. I guess there will be a trip out to our local race car parts shop in my future, to pick up a few feet of AN braided stainless hose to slow the critters down.

My DW refuses to let me order a dump truck load of mouse/rat poison, fearing that an owl or our OCD psycho dog will eat one of the carcasses and also die.

As I like to say, better living through chemistry! Bomb's away!!!!!

New deck. A tree fell last Spring and sheered the old one off at the wall there. We were contemplating replacing it with the plastic stuff, my dad used to go up every summer or two and re-stain it. No mas!!!

I looked at our weather vane a few times during today's long storm. It was pointing northeast every time I looked.

We lost power for about 2 hours earlier today. Thankfully those heroes in the bucket lifts got us back on street power. I'd hate to have to be gassing up the generator just about now! We have about two feet and it is still coming down heavily. I hope I survive the slog out to the shed tomorrow to unleash the snowblower.

An employee at one of the school districts I'm working with today was talking about the "North Easter" we just had.

Found out later on they are a teacher, I'm guessing not from the English department.

We got somewhere around 24" to 30". It was over the top of our snowblower so it made for a very long day. Had to keep backing up to let the overhanging stuff fall down, then go forward again. Learned a new trick way to run the machine, and I feel every bit of the education. Speaking of which, I think I shall go and re-medicate.

Don't go too far to re-medicate! There's another nor'easter on the horizon for Sunday, with anything from zero to just under a foot of the white stuff forecast in the NYC/tri-state area.....

Phil saw his shadow, 6 more weeks of this weather???

It was 52 when I left the house this morning. FIFTY-TWO degrees F. Todays high is predicted to only reach SIXTY-TWO.

Shirt, flannel. I should have brought a beanie and gloves too. My hands were COLD walking back across the street with my covfefe since my flannel has no pockets.

Oh, the huge manatee

I saw that pic and was wondering the same thing. WTF? Shouldn't have been a shadow.
