Sounds like the companies that are proud that they have hired only 'x' race that isn't white. Hmm, hire the best qualified candidate, or pad your D&I numbers and boast about it?

I think better policing starts with using police to stop/deter criminal activities vs administrative ones. Let regular people live their lives while going after the real bad people like dealers, organized criminals, murderers etc instead of people committing "infractions".

In my previous 13 years as a FF EMT I found women police officers to be harsh and actually escalate issues. Especially on psych runs, they would absolutely make the patients even more upset. Never met a female officer I agreed with in their handling of situations. Sad by my personal experience. Female state troopers I would say were the exception but that bunch are usually top notch anyways.

Now women medics I am all for, they had major compassion and were very by the book.

I'm gonna upset people, unlike me I know.

Your police will never improve because no other police force in any civilised country on the face of the planet has to deal with a populace armed to god damn teeth. Every road stop, every engagement with the public could be a bullet in the head. So the police have itchy tricky fingers, cue fucking bedlam.

Never gonna change.

So what's the cause of the skyrocketing increase in deadly force by police in Canada? Doesn't matter if its likely a suspect is armed or not, officers need to be trained for the worst. Criminals in Canada don't carry guns?

I believe criminals in Canada send you strongly worded letter requesting you relinquish your stuff to them or else they will continue to write you more letters.

US population is 8.5 times of Canada, Police deadly force in US is 12 times that in Canada, considering US has 29 times the number of guns I would say our numbers are much better.

That's certainly a part of it. Generally speaking men are going to risk their lives more than most women, evolutionarily speaking that's a fact.

I don't know where these numbers are coming from, but let's say they are accurate - if your population is 8.5 times that of Canada, but yet the US police use deadly force 12 times that of Canada, how are your numbers better?

It doesn't make a difference how many guns there are vs Canada - look at the firearms thread - I bet the average poster there has 6-10 firearms themselves. And some probably have more. All one needs is one firearm to kill. Whether they have one or twenty doesn't really impact their ability to harm.

Transginger women that were previously men would give you more women officers with the physical abilities of men. Problem solved.

So violent crime is up 50% and gun violence is up almost 40% in Canada. The border between US and Canada is very porous so there is a staggering amount of gun smuggling happening. And since carding/street investigations were banned there are a lot more guns being carried in public by gangsters. 12 Police officers have been murdered in Canada this year, that is a significant increase year over year. Police use of deadly force vs interactions with the public is something like 0.000001%.

Police use of deadly force is corelated to armed suspects, if US has 29 times the guns, the OP comment implied it was because of higher portion of armed citizens, but the numbers are not even close.

My point was most criminals are armed no matter the gun policies of any country and police should be trained to not take any risks, it is a very difficult job and a person not an LEO has no idea how things will go or should go down when you life is on the line.

Perhaps women could handle some situations differently and not have to use deadly force as often, but my thought is they might hesitate more often and then be injured or killed more often than men. The news of women officers being shot frequently would be a big deterrent to more joining.

Oh my...and "ginger"? What?

However, this kinda segues for me re that other poster complaining about female officers being more aggro in general/to mental health patients, and I would kinda say perhaps it's due to a certain type (not that there's anything wrong w that quoting Seinfeld haha) that sometimes wants to show they are more capable than men and overcompensates.

There is a fine line between generalizations and stereotypes but if we can all be mature/tactful about that, we may learn some things and get some insights. I think it's silly to be PC just for the sake of being PC, esp if it hurts fair analysis and if it is handled in a tactful manner.

For example, funny story, when I was working at an old job back in Asia, I would sometimes handle written complaints from customers and for a while I was freaking scratching my head wondering why the hell their English was SO atrocious when the ladies' surnames were the typical Caucasian ones, e.g. Smith, Thomson, Johnson, etc. I later realized it was because they were actually Asian women who thought they were hot crap marrying into them (not that there is anything wrong w that either ) and that attitude disseminated into everything they got angry about. Holy moly I couldn't remember one exception otherwise, it really seemed like that was the overwhelming, prevalent profile for the Asian Karen. (Ofc, I wouldn't say it out loud, that would be something in my memory bank irl but since I'm just killing time here, I decide to drop this little nugget lol.)

To be fair, I haven't found anything consistently funnier than The Simpsons, but I'm just amazed that so many adults are into cartoons/animes, maybe moreso than kids?
